Mrs. Grant's Kindergarten
May 6 - 10
Teacher Appreciation Week
I took a picture of the crew for Miss Stewart so I thought I would share!
Parents, Punch, and Poetry
Around 9:40, the students will be reciting three poems for the audience. They will be in our room but we will have extra chairs set up. No need to have the students dressed up for this occasion. After the poems, the students will have their work set up for you to see. They will be responsible for walking you through each piece.
Work
Young Authors book, Illustrations Unit of Study books, Kindergarten workbook, poetry notebook, book box, and some other items. Once finished, they may take you on a tour of our classroom. There will also be some lemonade and cookies for you to munch on while chatting.
Words
This week we learned about compound words! They had a great time spotting them in our message, thinking of their own, and finding them in their own books.
Readers Workshop

K.RL.2 With prompting and support, retell famliar stories, including key details

Writers Workshop
You will see our illustration books at Parents, Punch, and Poetry and we will be starting our big unit of study on small moments next week. This will take them until the end of the year.
Math Workshop
We have gone through all of the math common core standards for Kindergarten - woohoo! I think it has been a great math year and I'm hoping to take the next three weeks and attempt a review unit called 'getting my math toolbox ready for first grade'. We will be focusing on tricks to be a good math student as well as reviewing math vocabulary, revisiting the common core mathematical practices, and math writing.
Science
