The semester is in full swing, and we are so proud of how well you all are juggling your classes and extracurricular activities! Keep up the great work and start to get ready for the beginning of midterm season! Furthermore, the Career and Graduate School Fair is coming (September 27 and 28), so make sure to schedule an appointment with the CCP to get those resumes looked over!

Fellowship Opportunity

Interested in civic engagement and social change? Get experience with student led voter registration, get-out-the-vote, and students organizing campaigns on their respective college campuses by applying for New Virginia Majority's nonpartisan fellowship program! Interested candidates should email the Campus Director, Samantha Parsons, at sparsons@newvirginiamajority.org.

Tutoring Opportunity

Looking for a chance to volunteer with children? Come help tutor the student athletes of the Oyster Point Youth Sports Association Monday and Tuesday nights from 6-8 pm! Mondays will be at the Grissom Library (366 Deshazor Dr, Newport News, VA 23608) and Tuesdays will be held at the Main Street Library (110 Main St, Newport News, VA 23601).

Volunteer Opportunities

If you have not already, please log on to mycnuengage.org and create your profile! You will use this site to log your service hours, as well as to enroll in the Service Distinction Program (run through the Center for Community Engagement)!


Check out the Engagement Opportunities document for more information about service events. If you know of another qualifying event you'd like advertised, fill out a Service Submission Form at least two weeks before the day of the event!

Get excited for our second Coffeehouse Speaker. Hayley will be discussing a program that she created to teach leadership to elementary students. Come on out to the Crow's Nest on October 12 at 7 pm to hear more about it and get a cookie or two!

Passport Program

Make sure you keep track of the passports you attend so that you can log them in your End of the Year Report in the Spring! You do not have to log them until the end of the spring semester.

Get excited for our first PLP-led Passport Event on September 28 at noon, in Luter 347! We will be presenting a webinar titled "Leadership: Standing Strong Outside the Comfort Zone." This webinar will discuss stepping out of your comfort zone and making tough decisions!
