A2 Virtual+ Elementary News
February 26, 2021
Dear Families,
This week the AAPS Board of Education approved an in-school hybrid learning option. While the A2Virtual program will continue throughout this school year with the same learning platform, you have the option of returning to a hybrid experience at your home school. Accordingly, an email was sent through School Messenger earlier today prompting you to complete a survey. This survey will ask you to make a decision as to whether or not your child will remain fully virtual or participate in the hybrid model. Please be sure to complete the survey on or before March 8, 2021.
What do these choices mean for A2V families?
Remaining virtual: Your child will continue with his/her/their A2Virtual+ program and teacher.
Hybrid option: Your child will return to a building-based class. Your child will attend in person two days a week, participate remotely via Zoom two days a week and asynchronously via Schoology on Wednesdays. This shift would occur according to the following schedule:
I understand that you may have many questions. Each school will host an information session over the next week to discuss the specifics of the hybrid plan at their building. Please check your email for recent communication from your home school for details. The dates/times and links can also be found here. In addition, I am available to answer questions. You are welcome to contact me via email or drop in between 3-5 pm on Tuesday, March 2, 2021 using this Zoom link.
In the meantime, we will maintain the same instructional integrity and responsive care you've experienced to date. We care deeply about your child and the value of our program.
In partnership-

UMS Presents Ballet Folklórica de México
Ballet Folklórico de México de Amalia Hernández was formed in 1952 by dancer and choreographer Amalia Hernández. The company is based in Mexico City, but tours internationally, promoting and celebrating Mexican folk dance around the world. As a choreographer – someone who plans and arranges the movements you see in a dance – Hernández created dozens of dances, based on unique dance traditions from across Mexico. Amalia Hernández died in 2000, and the company is currently directed by her grandson, Salvador López.

Academic Support
If your child needs additional support, please check out these Free Academic Resources for AAPS Students offered by AAPS community partners.
Connecting Together: An AAPS Parent/Guardian Support Group
AAPS is offering twice-a-month Zoom support groups for parents and guardians. Groups meet on the 2nd Tuesday (7:30-8:30 PM) and 4th Thursday (1-2 PM) of the month. Connect with other parents to find support and get ideas about how to face the challenges of 2021. Please register here. Last year, parents who participated in an AAPS parent support group consistently reported that they found it helpful, and appreciated hearing from and connecting with other parents going through similar struggles. We also offer parent support groups in Spanish, Korean, Chinese, Arabic and Japanese. See the dates for these groups and register for bilingual groups here.
