From The Principal's Desk
Tēnā koutou katoa,
Welcome back after the long weekend, and I hope that you got to make the most of the extra time with the family (and the RWC excitement!).
Last week, we were fortunate enough to enjoy further sporting success on the football pitch at the Western Zone Interschool Soccer Tournament. The teams were simply outstanding, no doubt bouyed by enthusiastic support from the many parents who were able to make it. Year 5 stole the show by winning the Zone in 1st place, with Y6 taking out 2nd place (following a tense final) and the girls' team putting in a spirited performance resulting in 4th place. I'd like to thank Teresa Hannard and Alan Gordon for all their work setting the children up for success at this level, and also to the many parent helpers and coaches who have volunteered so much time and energy to the teams.
The sports and outdoor education focus now turns to the upcoming Year 6 Waterwise Sailing, which is always a memorable educational experience for the children, and also our Junior and Senior Athletics events (1st and 2nd December respectively), to which all parents are warmly invited.
On a final note, I'm sure you will join me in wishing luck to our FPS National Finals team, who head to Carey Park this Friday for an exciting weekend of competitive problem-solving challenges.

New Walking School Bus Route!
Do you live on Titirangi Road or have children that walk to school up Titirangi Road?
Do you drive down Titirangi Road after dropping your children at school?
Next year we are thinking of establishing a new Walking School Bus Route. It would begin at the parking area near the bus stop, just below the Godley Road intersection, roughly opposite 346 Titirangi Road. Children would be accompanied by a WSB Driver as they walked up the hill and over the crossing to school. It could suit families living in the area and along the route, as well as those who would like to drop their children at the departure point at the designated time.
The first step in development is to find out how many families would be interested in
such a route.
If you think your family would find this route useful for getting to or from school next year, please call or email Vicki Moffat, Walking School Bus Co-ordinator, to discuss your needs soon firstname.lastname@example.org or 0274719314
