K-3 New Instructional Programs for Language Art and Math
For Language Arts, we are using Reading Wonders as our core instructional program. Reading Wonders is a comprehensive balanced literacy program which provides a variety of differentiated instructional resources for vocabulary, writing, phonics, phonemic awareness, literature, and informational text. Each component of Reading Wonders supports students in developing as critical readers and thinkers. Students can access the online version of Reading Wonders at home and at school through the Bridgeport Public Schools webpage using the student portal.
For Mathematics, we are using Ready Classroom which aligns to the Common Core State Standards and the IREADY assessments. Students can access IREADY mathematics lessons through the Bridgeport Public Schools webpage using the student portal.

Social Emotional Learning - Monthly Themes
Each month of the school year, we also incorporate a monthly theme or focus.
In September, we participated in the Start with Hello Week from the Sandy Hook Promise. Start with Hello activities focused on getting to know new people in our building with a simple act of saying hello.
Kindness, Inclusion, and Anti- Bullying were the focus for October. We wore orange and we participated in an anti-bullying presentation. In class we discussed the definition of bullying and participated in classroom activities to support kindness and inclusion.
Gratitude is the theme for November. We will facilitate discussions and participate in social emotional learning activities focused on fostering an attitude of gratitude.
We will celebrate Inclusive Schools week during the month of December.
At home, please engage in discussion and activities with your child focused on our monthly themes.
