November 19, 2021

It's getting chilly outside (except for yesterday) and those things that go along with this time of the year are upon us. Last Friday, the first marking period ended and then report cards were released on Genesis (more on this below). This week and next Monday are conferences with the teachers and then next week is Thanksgiving break, which starts with an early dismissal on Wednesday. I hope all of you have a safe and happy time with your family.

The Burlington County Board of Health is sponsoring a Vaccination Clinic for 5-11 year olds in the Performing Arts Center on November 29th from 4:30-7:30pm. Appointments are required. Please see the PDF below for more details.

The Lumberton PTA's annual Holiday Drive has started! Wish lists were sent home with your child last week. Please check your child's folder for this information. You can also access your child's wish list at any time here: Holiday Drive Wish Lists. The drive will end on Friday, December 10th. Any help you can provide is greatly appreciated!

For those of you that are unfamiliar, this program helps to provide children in our community that are less fortunate with coats, clothes, food, and gifts from each child’s specific wish list. In 2020, we were able to help 64 Lumberton children from 28 different families; this could not have been done without your continued support.

It was great to see the veterans back in the Performing Arts Center for our annual assembly. Last year we had a virtual presentation, but getting to see the veterans speak to the kids and talk about why they served and how it had impacted their lives is great. I was so proud of our 8th grade students for the amazing standing ovation they gave the veterans as they entered the PAC. Great job by Mr. Brown, Mr. Coon and Ms. Leith in preparing and hosting the ceremony.

As I said above, the 1st marking period report cards were released this week. You can log into Genesis and see your child's report card. We believe it is very important for you to be aware of your child's progress in school and for home and school to work together. If you have not already done so, please log in and see his/her grades. You can click on the video below for a tutorial.

We have had some transmissions take place outside of school, but they have had impact on LMS as we have had to quarantine students for close contact situations. In addition, please be smart about interactions as we enter the holiday season. Mr. Langowski sent out updates on travel gouidelines and restrictions this past week. I know we are are all tired of some of the rules, but we need to remain vigilant on keeping ourselves and those around us safe.

Our Young Republic approached administration with a program of wearing pajamas to school for a small donation with all the proceeds going to benefit the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. We ask for a $1 donation or more, if you can. We are going to do this on Friday, December 3rd. School dress code will still be in place, but we will allow pajamas for the day.
