THE MARCH TO MAY
Dear Wildcat Families,
I hope that this message finds you all well and that you are all able to enjoy some time off with friends and family during our spring break.
The march to May. You many find it ironic that I use that phase in the actual month of March! You may also be asking yourself, what is he talking about? In my years of education March marks that time of the year where you about have the winter months of January and February beat, but you also understand that in education it is a march uphill to complete the mission of May 31st. Why? If you look at your child's building calendar (if you are like me it applies to children in each building) it becomes more clear.
We start with a much needed break, go into April where we have state testing, spring sports, academic award ceremonies, winter sport recognitions, going to or getting ready for state and national competitions, graduation planning, meeting CCP deadlines, studying for AP exams, completing scholarship information, scheduling for classes, May celebrations, and course development (this is the short list). In addition to the student activities, April and May are prime hiring months for schools. This is a good time to thank those who took the time to fill our the surveys linked to this newsletter. Its not too late to fill one or several out!
When I think of marching I think of the military. Marching requires discipline, grit, determination, and collaboration. Much of the aforementioned activities all require these traits! Here is the good news, Spring break serves as the re-charging stage for our students, parents, and staff before we begin that march to the summit. I hope you all take the time over break to re-charge and re-group, however you choose to do that, take advantage of this time!
Have a great break as we prepare for our march to May 31st!
Go Wildcats!

District Updates
Human Resources
- We have had a great deal of interest in all of our administrative positions. The application window for all of those positions is now closed. We are currently in the process of screening candidates, assessing the data we are receiving from staff and community surveys, forming administrative, staff, community, and student interview committees, developing interview questions that are thorough and rigorous, and planning the interview timelines. Our goal will be to complete all interviews in April with anticipation of recommendation to the Board for hire in May.
- The high school has conducted interviews for its pre-nursing teacher. Mrs. Fox, our current pre-nursing teacher, will be vacating that position to pursue another career in the nursing industry. We are greatly appreciative of Mrs. Fox and the program that she has built from the ground up!
- If you are curious of job openings in our district they are listed and updated on our website.
Operations
- The softball project is complete and looks great! Thank you to all of the local support that helped make this possible. Also thank you to the NUAC for financially supporting this project!
- An anonymous donor has provided money to the middle school to add signage that will help direct community to the correct door for events in the gym. UPDATE this money will also be used for window clings for the middles school interior doors that will display our branding. Thank you!
- As of now it appears that the high school roof looks like it is in good shape after its full repair. Custodians are now working at replacing all of the water stained ceiling tiles.
- There were 2 sheds in the back of the high school that have been cleaned out and will be repurposed. One has already been moved to the transportation office for some needed storage of tires. The other shed will be moved to the throwing event area and will be used for storage of poles for vaulting, shots, and discuses.
- Due to the throwing area the walkway behind the visiting bleachers will be closed off during track season in the unlikely event we would have an errant disc be thrown in that direction.
- We are working on sponsorship to have the theater curtains in the high school gym replaced.
- We are reviewing the acoustic paneling in the elementary school for advice on how to fix them so they can be closed for potential class space.
Technology
- As we march toward May please be advised that there will be Chromebook turn in. This is a good time to assess your child's Chromebook and seek remedy for any damage or missing items.
Curriculum
- State testing will take place in April.
- Buildings are currently building their schedules for next year.
- Students should be scheduling for classes next year.
- Pre school screening took place at the board office this past week. It was great seeing littles working with our staff. We had a great turnout and look forward to welcoming our new wildcats next year!
