Century Updates
October 19, 2020
Century Families,
Congratulations to our winners of last week’s Pajama Spirit Day: Yuvindu Chandrasinghe and Luke Sears. Reyna Land won for our staff. Way to go Ms. Land and students! Each will receive a Dutch Bros gift card in the mail on Monday.
Graduation:
Information regarding graduation merchandise ordering will come out from Jostens this week. Senior parents will receive emails and seniors will receive texts along with short videos during advisory. Our official ordering week will be October 26-30. It is crucial that families order early as COVID can impact industry preventing late orders from getting filled.
Activities:
Virtual club rush is Friday the 23rd. We will be highlighting active clubs in a slides presentation that will go out to all advisory teachers and students via email.
Athletics:
All student athletes will need an up-to-date physical on file prior to a return to athletics. All freshmen will need to turn in a physical. Physicals are good for two years. https://www.osaa.org/docs/forms/PhysicalExamination-English2017.pdf
Credit Attainment Plans:
If students earned an incomplete last year for the second semester, Graduation Coaches will be reaching out to students starting this week. They will share the plan developed by teachers for earning credit. These plans need to be completed by the end of September, 2021.
AP Exams:
For students in the first quarter, teachers have been going over instructions for signing up for AP exams. We encourage students to sign up, even if they are unsure they want to take the exam. CollegeBoard has waived all cancellation and unused test fees for this year. This means that if students don’t take the exam, they will receive a full refund at the end of the year. For more information about signing up, see the presentation linked here. You can also watch this video.
Advisory Lessons:
This week, seniors will learn about searching for colleges and requesting transcripts in Naviance. 9th-11th grades will be discussing negative thoughts and recognizing each other’s differences. All students will also be learning about how to access school resources from a distance and about the clubs that are available this year.

The CHS Boosters Club is hosting a Fundraising event at Panera, 7202 NE Cornell Rd, Hillsboro location, on Monday, November 9, 2020 between 4:00pm and 8:00pm. 20% of sales will be donated to the Boosters when you present this flyer when ordering. Use code PRFUND if ordering online.

The end of the first quarter is on Thursday, November 5. Due to the condensed schedule, the grades posted will be transcripted, final, semester grades. Students will start new classes (periods 5-8) on Monday, November 9. Information about parent conferences is coming soon.
