A Message from Mrs. Whitten

Hello Families- It was great to welcome back your children this week. I think January is my new favorite time of year because children make progress in leaps and bounds this time of year! I have already seen it this year in our kindergarteners this week! They are rolling up their sleeves ready to rock this school thing.

Thank you to our families who came to our Social and Emotional Learning/PTO Meeting. If you weren't able to attend, the presentation is linked here.

Safety Alert- This week a few students reported that a man in a grey/white van taking pictures near the THPRD park. We have asked Beaverton City Police to increase patrol in the area. No staff saw anything suspicious, but we always take cautionary measures. Please take this opportunity to review with you child safe measures to take while walking to and from school!

Come join the conversation! Southridge High School is hosting a community-wide event on Wednesday, January 29, 2020. Starting with a schoolwide "conversation about race" earlier in the day, the school is then opening its doors to all students, families, staff, community members, and partners to engage in community-wide conversations about race from 3:30-6:00 p.m. There will be student, staff, and community-led breakout sessions on various topics from 3:30-4:10 and 5:05-5:45, with a keynote student panel from 4:15-5:00. The goal of this event is to increase individual racial literacy by participating in meaningful and purposeful learning and conversation. Look for a registration link via a GoogleForm coming soon!
