Title IV
Going Above and Beyond
This Just In!
Innovation Grant Notifications!
We have finally finished calculating the scores for all of our Title IV Innovation Grant applications and notification letters were sent last Friday, June 19! What an incredible turn out! The creativity in the applications submitted was amazing and the sheer amount of applications was an incredible indicator of the amount of interest and the high need in the field for this type of support. Currently, I am working on creating a section on our Title IV page for information on the Title IV, A FY20 Innovation Grant funding and plan to have that complete in the near future. You will be able to access that information here when it is available. Thank you all for who participated in what started as a "what if we..." conversation just about a year ago and quickly led to the first Title IV, Part A Innovation Grant! I cannot wait to see the wonderful things as they start to take shape with this funding and hope to continue this opportunity in the future. Please also know that all of those amazing ideas are most definitely fund-able through the traditional Title IV, A formula based funding and with the EdFlex waiver in place, LEAs will not be restricted by the 20, 20, and some regulation (see more below). Which for most means considerably more flexibility to spend to creatively meet your needs. I continue to be so incredibly inspired by the passion and the innovative thinking you bring and will continue to support these dreams and ideas in whatever ways I can!
INtelligrants Virtual Training- On to Phase 3!
Phase 2-
We have wrapped up Phase 2 and moved on to Phase 3 which consists of five open call sessions with Nathan and his team. Before we leave Phase 2 behind there are a couple of resources I would like to direct you to. Knowing that the INtelligrants training video is one and a half hours long we fully understand that is a lot of information to digest and can prove to be quite challenging when needing to reference a specific section (I know I'm not alone when it comes to seemingly endless searches for just the right spot on a video). Recognizing this the team has created a summary sheet breaking down the INtelligrants Virtual Training video into digestible bits and pieces. This "Cheat Sheet" segments the video and provides links to important topics covered in the training. Please click here to access the INtelligrants Virtual Training Cheat Sheet.Phase 3-
INtelligrants Phase 3 is happening now! IDOE has created five open call sessions for any and all questions related to the INtelligrants roll out. Join Nathan Williamson and team on one of these dates and times:
Click on any of the links above to access the open call or click here and scroll down to Phase 3 to access the links on IDOE's INtelligrants landing page !
INtelligrants and the Title IV Timeline
Pre-Applications are due July 1, however if you need extended time please contact your grant specialist and work with them. This is allowable, however your eligibility date is the date of your Pre-Application submission, meaning if you wait until July 25, you can only request reimbursement for purchases made after that date. Feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns you may have!

EdFlex Waiver Approved!
CARES Act Guidance
This information is repeated from last months newsletter. I felt as though the information remained relevant and pertinent so have decided to keep the information for this month as well. Please see the following:
The CARES Act provided authority to the Secretary of Education to expediently waive assessment, accountability, certain reporting, and carryover timelines. The process for waiving the carryover timelines was provided to IDOE on Saturday, April 4. IDOE applied for the waiver on Monday, April 6 for the following items. USED approved the waiver on April 6. This waiver directly impacts Title IV, A funds in multiple ways. Please see the following:
1. FY18 Title IV funds, the encumbrance and liquidation deadlines
- Updated encumbrance deadline: September 30, 2021
- Updated liquidation deadline: December 15, 2021
2. Title IV, A the 20, 20, and some requirement lifted
- LEAs may amend their FY18 and FY19 Title IV, A grants without the need to ensure the 20 percent in Focus Area A, 20 percent in Focus Area B, and some in Focus Area C are met, even if grants exceed $30,000.
3. Title IV, A 15 percent limit on technology infrastructure lifted
- LEAs may amend their FY18 and FY19 Title IV, A grants without the need to ensure technology infrastructure stays under 15 percent. Please submit amendments to your Title IV specialist.
Nathan Williamson has released an excellent set of guidance that can be found on the Title Grants and Support website. Please check it out for more detailed information.
