Message from Chris

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

It has been great to see so many great learning opportunities going on this week. In particular the Year 6 children have been sharing their Exhibition via Zoom today. The Year 6 Exhibition is the culmination of the PYP and is an opportunity for our children to demonstrate their learning through taking action. The Exhibition has been online this year and the children have excelled in using technology to take real action in the world. I want to congratulate all of the Year 6 children for their fantastic Exhibition and for demonstrating all that they have learnt from the experience. I also want to thank the efforts of the whole staff team for working tirelessly to ensure that Year 6 created a great Exhibition to share.

Classes for 2020/21

It is that time of year when we plan for the coming year.

As a result of children having spent only part of the year together on the school site, they have not been able to spend as much time together as they would have in a typical year. We have therefore taken the decision to keep children in the same class groups for next year. These groups will be able to forge strong relationships as they move up to the new year group together.

Today, each child will have been told who their new class teacher will be. If they were in school today they will also have received a paper copy of their new teacher’s letter of introduction. If your child is in school tomorrow they will receive the letter then.

Big picture

If you haven’t had the chance already, please make sure you complete the parent survey about our online learning. We really appreciate the feedback we receive. Thank you in advance for taking the time to complete this.

Planning for return in August

A number of parents have asked about the return to school next year - and whether we will return to normal service in August. We are currently planning for the return of all children in August, however this is dependent on EDB/CHP’s strict guidance allowing for this. The current requirements within the guidance requires students to be distanced in their classrooms, which is why we are dividing the 30 children across two class spaces.

I want to reassure you that ESF will be doing all they can over the summer to ensure that children can return to school site all day, every day, as soon as possible. We are currently planning for this at the moment. We will work hard with ESF and endeavour to ensure we can return to full on-site learning as soon as possible, government guidance allowing. As soon as I have further information I will write to you.

Once again I would like to thank parents for all their support over the last few weeks and I wish you all the best as we head into the last week of term.

Best Regards,

Looking to get involved? Opportunities in the new school year

One of the things that makes Glenealy such a special school is its sense of community. There are many ways in which you can contribute. Why not become a Class Parent, join the PTA or help at one of the many events and fundraisers held over the course of the year? We welcome all new ideas and thoughts.

  1. Become a Class Representative/Parent - Volunteering as class rep is a great way to help your child's school and get to know other parents. Class Parents are a central contact point between the PTA and your child’s class. In addition to communicating important information between the PTA and the class, Class Parents organize meet-ups for the parents/caregivers of all students in their class. You will work as a team of 2 per class. Please complete this form if you wish to put your name forward to be a Class Parent for your child's class.

  1. Join the PTA - Bring your skills, ideas and enthusiasm to the heart of our school community. This highly rewarding role offers the opportunity for you to provide your input and help organise some fantastic events. Please contact Becky at if you are interested in hearing more.

Important Reminder

Has your child's visa status changed?

As a reminder, all children attending an ESF school need the appropriate and valid visa status to do so. Please inform the school if your child's visa status changes. For more information, you may refer to the Immigration section on the ESF website.
