Monday Morning Memo - Week 27
3/19/18 - National Reading Month
Dear Poupard Staff,
I hope everyone enjoyed their half day this past Friday that lead into St. Patties weekend after a long couple days of conferences. Poupard has a couple very large events over these new couple weeks to showcase the things going well at the building. Thank you to Maya, Shaughan and Kelly for leading the way in preparation to our Synergy Night! Thank you to our Lighthouse Teams and Action Teams for leading the way in preparing for the Leadership Day in 9 days!
Homework club is officially starting today. The SIT greatly appreciates your input of what you'd like to see your learner work on when they visit Homework Club at the end of the day by completing the half sheet placed in your mailboxes. This will help ensure that the students time is spent wisely and they take as much away from the additional time spent learning with us.
I know everyone is feeling the wear and tear from the school year right about now. Our students need us more than ever to remind them of our expectations for learning, how to behave during different times of the day, model what we need for them to do and positive praise when we observe that behavior. Additionally, our kiddos need us to empathize now more than ever. There are challenges and barriers that are not in our circle of control.
Consider what is in your circle on control or influence.
- How might we communicate with a family that is unresponsive?
- Whats working well and what isn't?
- What do we need to encourage for students to do their best work?
- How are we going to make sure students are still being held accountable for their learning and behavior?
Please know I value each and everyone of you. You are an incredibly dedicated group of educators that is relentless in your pursuit to grow our learners as students and citizens in which I couldn't be more grateful.
Thank you!!!!

Nuts and Bolts
- Please remember to take your Walkie Talkie with you outside when you take your students outside for an extra recess. The office staff has had a tough time locating individual students at the end of the day and it can be especially challenging with one person.
- Ruth's last day at Poupard was last Friday. She accepted a transfer over to Maire. The search for a full-time replacement is nearly finalized. We'll have a sub for this week, with hopefully the new person starting the following week.
- The School Improvement Team is looking for books in good shape for Poupard's Literacy Night in May. If you find some, get a receipt and give them to Lori Woz.
- Hall Passes have been handed out. PBIS is currently working on purchasing bathroom passes for classrooms that don't already have them. Please give student(s) a hall passes when they are traveling to different parts of the building (office, lab, lunch with teacher, etc).
- All tenured staff should meet with Cindy to schedule their observation. You will be scheduling three dates (Pre-Observation, Observation, and Post-Observation).
- GPPSS will be adopting Schoology as its primary Learning Management System next fall. Free accounts can be made and transferred over into the following school year. Click here to create a free account.
