Math
Last week in Math we reviewed all that we have learned throughout the school year. We started the week with a game of Shape Jeopardy and we ended the week with a Counting Money "Scoot." Students scoot around the room to different cards with an amount of money shown on them. Students count up the money and record the amount on their worksheet.
At home, please continue to...
- Practice basic addition and subtraction math facts. If they have mastered those, start practicing multiplication!
- Continue to encourage students to explain their thinking aloud or on paper.
- Talk about fractions or "equal shares" you see in daily life. We know all about halves, thirds and fourths at this point.
- Include your child in any measuring or estimating done in everyday life.
- Check out Number Grid Difference, Shape Capture and Basketball Addition games on the Everyday Math website. Please email me if you need your student's login.
Reader's Workshop
We had a special visit from the Ambassador Dogs this week. They loved listening to us read our books to them!
At home, please continue to...
- Encourage your child to read for at least 15 minutes each night.
- Encourage your child to read aloud to you from time to time. They can read a book aloud to you or even just the dinner recipe.
- Ask your child questions about what they have read.
