The Copeland PTO Newsletter - December 4, 2020
President’s Corner By Amanda Ball
I hope everyone had a nice and relaxing Thanksgiving. Only two more weeks and we get to do it again.
We are at the end of our Texas Roadhouse Holiday Rolls fundraiser. The deadline to order is Monday, December 7th. You can get their famous rolls, cinnamon butter and TXRH gift cards just in time for the winter holiday. Please note the updated pickup days. Everything is done online this year so it’s super easy, please see details above.
Copeland’s toy drive is currently going on. Please send in new toys by December 10th and they will be donated to Cypress Assistance Ministries. Copeland’s 28th annual Giving Tree sing along and holiday parties will be held December 18th. Things will look very different this year so please be on the lookout for an email from your HRC with details for the sing along & party. If you plan to purchase your teacher a little something special, please check out the teacher favorites tab on our website at CopelandPTO.org.
If anyone has any comments, suggestions or questions about Copeland PTO or volunteering at the school, please feel free to contact me at CopelandPTOPresident@gmail.com.
Thanks,
Amanda

We are still in need of a Homeroom Coordinator for the following class:
5th- Ms. Flores
Our Homeroom Coordinators support our teachers and the class! Since this year looks very different in terms of volunteering, the role would involve creating signups where needed and communicating to the class parents on any upcoming events such as teacher birthday, holiday party, teacher appreciation, and any other events that we are permitted to have this year as they arise. The HRC can be a parent of a CFISD Connect or Face to Face student. This would not require that you are available to be on campus.
If you are interested in supporting Ms.Flores by serving as her Homeroom Coordinator, please send an email with your name and phone number to Deepa Ozarkar at copelandptovips@gmail.com
Positions Needing to be Filled:
Fundraising Chair - Chairman is on the Executive Board and investigates options for major and minor fundraisers, coordinates & oversees all fundraising activities.
5th Grade Memory Book – (a 5th grade parent is requested) Chairman organizes this special "through the years" book for our 5th graders. They talk about their favorite memories at Copeland, favorite teachers, and we get to see their Elementary career in pictures from Kinder through 5th grade. We need someone to help organize this.
Gardening Chair - Chairman works with the master gardener on garden days with our 3rd grade classes to grow and take care of the garden at the front of the school.
Congrats Lesli Morisak, our Volunteer of the Month
Who will it be next month??? Log your hours now. If you need to know how, see the bottom of this newsletter for step by step directions on how to use Raptor, our volunteer hour recording system for Cy-Fair ISD.

Spirit Gear By Amanda Ball
There are limited sizes if you are still interested in purchasing spirit wear. There are also water bottles, tumblers & caps available. Please visit our website, copelandpto.org (click Fundraising from menu, then Spirit Wear) to see the selection and place your order. If you have any questions please email Amanda at CopelandSpiritWear@gmail.com.
The Garden
The 3rd graders are so excited to see their garden changing every week. They are seeing their hard work grow right before their eyes. This week they planted celery and did maintenance. Remember on garden days to have your 3rd grader wear the appropriate clothes. Upcoming garden days are 12/17, 1/7 & 1/21.
The garden is still in need of pine needles. If you are cleaning your yard and have pine needles to spare, please bag them and put them next to the picnic tables in front of Copeland Elementary. The 3rd graders will do the work of spreading them around their crops.
We need pictures of Grinch Day, Gingerbread Day, Polar Express Day, Spirit Nights, Holiday Sing Along & Holiday Parties. Even if your child is a Connect student submit them participating or dressing up for these days and submit their picture for the yearbook!
Birthday Marquee
Support your Copeland PTO and wish your Copeland Colt a HAPPY BIRTHDAY by featuring them on the Copeland Elementary Marquee the week of their birthday.
It's Simple and Easy...
- Choose the week you want to feature your Copeland Colt
- Complete the Birthday Marquee Form on CopelandPTO.org
- Submit the $20 Birthday Marquee Fee
- Watch the look on their face when they see their name
Due to district policy we will only put their first name and last letter of their last name.
Spots are limited to 5 listings per week. You must submit the form and payment by noon on the Friday prior to the week selected. So sign up your Copeland Colt TODAY!
Does your student have a summer birthday or is the week of their birthday already filled up? You can choose any week that is still available.
Due to processing, payments must be made online or by cash to guarantee your spot on the birthday marquee. If you are paying by cash; complete this online form, choose the "pay later" option then submit the payment within two business days to the school, either to the front office or send it in with your student.
Logging in as a Volunteer
Working for our kids as a volunteer is both rewarding and important. Please log your volunteer hours in our Raptor Portal.
CFISD has provided an online program to make it easier on volunteers to log and track their
volunteer hours. This program is called Raptor, which is part of the V-Soft security software
that helps keep our schools safe.
Copeland does not have logbooks in the front office to record your hours. So, in order to
log your hours, you will need to establish a raptor account. This is quite easy and will allow
you to log your hours at home.
The steps to register online are as follows:
1. Go to https://www.cfisd.net/en/community-involvement/community-engagement/volunteer/# or click on the "New to Raptor" button below.
2. Complete this form in its entirety and submit (you must have an email address to do this)
3. You will receive an email from support@raptorware.com with your account information and password.
4. Once you receive the email use the button below to log in to your account.
5. Add this website to your favorites (this is where you will log hours)
6. Log in with email and password
7. Select campus
8. Select the tabs you will need
This program will be used to determine volunteer of the month and reporting our total volunteer hours to the district, enabling them to apply for various grants and programs.
FREE MONEY for Your Kids!!!!
Link your Kroger Rewards card to Copeland Elem at www.KrogerCommunityRewards.com.
Are you a big Amazon shopper? Start using Smile.Amazon.com or turn it on in your app settings and select Copeland Elementary as your charity.
BoxTops went digital. Just scan your receipts on their app from any store and they give a donation to Copeland Elem. There are a few products that you can still clip the BoxTops for. Send these to the school and they can feed the shark in the front office!
Does the company you, or your spouse, work for match donations or pay for hours you volunteer at Copeland Elem? These companies do: Shell, BP & Microsoft. If you don’t know if your company does, please ask your HR Dept.
