Our Mission:
A Note from Miss Pape
Dear Lincoln Families,
That busy time of year is really picking up! We enjoyed celebrating Halloween and our Fall Spirit Week here at Lincoln school. Thank you to our wonderful PTA who organized such fun activities! Our 4th grade musical was a huge hit, too! Now, students and teachers are preparing for Parent-Teacher Conferences coming up on November 21st and 22nd. I know that everyone is excited to show off all of the hard work they have been up to.
We have a lot of items in the lost and found right now. Items are displayed in the front vestibule (Door 1) if you are missing something. These items will be out through Parent-Teacher Conferences, but will be donated after Thanksgiving break. Please come take a look!
Please make sure that the Car Loop is only 1 lane. When cars go around others, it can make for a dangerous situation with kids walking in between cars. Thanks for keeping our line safe!
In the month of October, our Climate and Culture team had set a goal for students around improving hallway behavior. Staff at Lincoln use our expectations for "steady, silent, right" in the hallways here. This indicates to students that we should walk with calm, quiet bodies and stay on the right side of the hallway. Students made their goal and celebrated with Game Day in their classrooms last week! Way to go, Lincoln Lions! Our next goal revolves around respectful language and being kind throughout the school day. We continue to work with our district Culturally and Linguistically Responsive Teaching (CLR) coaches to continue to grow and refine our practices. Staff and students will be working through lessons around acceptance, kindness, and empathy. Take some time in the next month to talk with your child about how to show kindness and respect at school!
Best,
Ellen Pape

Parent University Nights
Student Absences & Tardies
We start our day learning at 8:25 am every day. Please be sure that your student arrives on time to school each day. Students have an arrival window of 8:10-8:25 am each day. Students who arrive on a late bus due to the bus driver shortage are marked as "excused" in our attendance system as the late buses are currently out of our control.

Moving 15 Forward
During the November 8, 2022 election, you will see a question from the Community Consolidated School District 15 regarding its Moving 15 Forward plan. The plan will allow the District to repair and restore our facilities, bring full-day kindergarten to all elementary schools, update schools libraries and some learning spaces, and ensure feeder patterns from elementary to junior high and high school providing all student access to a neighborhood or near neighborhood school. To learn even more about the proposed improvements visit www.ccsd15.net/Moving15Forward.
Cold & Flu Information
Dear Parent or Guardian:
Cold and flu season is upon us and we are seeing a large number of students with flu symptoms. To prevent widespread flu in the school, we recommend that your child stay home from school if experiencing flu or cold symptoms. To decide whether or not to send your child to school, please consider the following guidelines.
Consider keeping your child at home for an extra day of rest and observation if he or she has any of the following symptoms:
Very stuffy or runny nose and/or a cough
Mild sore throat (no fever, no known exposure to strep)
Headache
Mild stomach ache
Chills
General malaise or feelings of fatigue, discomfort, weakness or muscle aches
Definitely keep your child at home and consider seeking medical attention if he or she has any of these symptoms:
Fever (greater than 100 degrees by mouth. Your child may return to school only after his or her temperature has been consistently below 100 degrees, by mouth, for a minimum of 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medications)
Vomiting (even once)
Diarrhea
Frequent congested (wet) or croupy cough
Shortness of breath
Lots of nasal congestion with frequent blowing of nose
To help prevent the flu and other colds, please teach your children good hygiene habits:
Wash hands frequently
Do not touch eyes, nose or mouth
Cover mouth and nose when sneezing or coughing, use a paper tissue, throw it away and then wash hands
Avoid close contact with people who are sick
The flu shot is one of the best ways to prevent illness from the seasonal influenza virus. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends adults and children receive the flu vaccine each year. Yearly flu vaccination is needed because immunity against the flu wears off over time. In addition, the flu virus strains often change, so the vaccine also changes from year-to-year in order to match the flu viruses expected to be circulating in the community.
Colds and Flu are the most contagious during the first 48 hours. A child who has a fever should remain at home until “fever free” for a minimum of 24 hours.
Often when a child awakens with vague complaints (the way colds and flu begin), it is wise to observe your child at home for an hour or two before deciding whether or not they should attend school. Your child should be physically able to participate in all school activities upon return to school. Keeping a sick child at home will help minimize the spread of infections and viruses in the classroom.
Sincerely,
