Stable power for May elections in Visayas assured

CEBU CITY, Feb 14 (PIA) -- The Department of Energy (DOE) said the Visayas region will have stable power supply during the second automated elections in the country.
DOE Visayas Regional Director Antonio Labios said the current power reserve in Visayas is between 300 MW to 400 MW.
"Mapun-an pa ni siya during elections kay dili kaayo dako ang demand sa electricity basta holiday (This will be augmented during elections because the demand for electricity during holidays is not that high)," said Labios during a Kapihan forum held by the Philippine Information Agency in Cebu. Cebu academy calls for applicants to youth leadership program

CEBU CITY, Feb. 14 (PIA) — The Young Minds Academy (YMA) in Cebu is calling on interested youth leaders aged 12 to 20 to apply for their leadership and citizenship development training program.
Interested applicants must form a team of five members under one of the following categories: Generation A (17–20 years old) or Generation B (12-16 years old).

CEBU CITY, Feb. 14 (PIA) — A power distribution utility in Cebu is appealing to students and residents in their coverage areas to avoid flying kites near electric lines.
“This is one way how the public can help us ensure that there will be stable power supply during the Election Day,” said Theresa Sederiosa, communications manager of Visayan Electric Company (VECO).
Based on VECO’s records, most power outages that occur in their area are caused by kites getting entangled in power lines. READ MORE

Bohol cited as best CDD implementor in Philippines

CEBU CITY, Feb. 14,(PIA) –The province of Bohol has been identified as one of the best local government units implementing the community-drive development (CDD) in the country.
A statement from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) said Bohol recently received a national citation from DSWD for being the best LGU in the social welfare delivery.
This is the reason why out of the many Kalahi-CIDSS areas in the Philippines, the Asian delegates chose the Bohol province as the destination of their recent cross-learning visit for the Kalahi-CIDSS learning visit. READ MORE

CEBU CITY, Feb. 5 (PIA) — The agriculture department is appealing to the public to stop wasting rice, a major staple food for most Filipinos.
Department of Agriculture in Central Visayas Regional Field Unit-7 (DA RFU 7) Regional Executive Director Angel C. Enriquez made the appeal during the recent launching of the National Year of Rice (NYR) in Bohol Province at the Cultural Center in Tagbilaran City.
Around 400 farmers from the different towns in Bohol along with agriculture students from different parts of the country attended the launching. READ MORE
