Genius Hour!
Last week student's began brainstorming ideas for their first Genius Hour projects. Here is a video overview of what Genius Hour is all about!
With Mr. Warrenfeltz
In science, students will plan and begin writing Energy iBooks. Their books will focus on different types of energy (including heat, light, sound, and electric) and how those types of energy are transferred in the real world. In math, students will take a quiz on multiplication, area, and perimeter and will work in small groups based on their goals from this quiz.
With Mrs. Hartley
In ELA/SS, students will continue their research of the 3 regions of Maryland and will begin creating a map to represent what they’ve learned. Additionally, we will continue to read Hatchet, specifically looking for character traits in Brian, the main character, and discussing the way Gary Pulsen develops these traits in the text. Lastly, students will look for connections between the way people in Maryland use natural resources and the way Brian does as he struggles to survive in the Canadian wilderness.
