Benefield Parent Newsletter
We are no longer switching students from digital to in-person learning at Benefield. We understand that needs change and that digital learning is not for every student. In those cases students will be permitted to return to in-person learning after the first nine-weeks.
If you have extenuating circumstances and would like for your child to return to in-person learning after the first nine-weeks, you may contact Mrs. Stevens via email at email@example.com and/or reach out to your child's grade level AP with the following information:
- Student name
- Student number
- Grade level
Congratulations Ms. Nelson and Mr. Campbell!!
Ms. Nelson is our Teacher of the Year and Mr. Campbell is our Support Person of the Year.
We love our custodians!
On Friday, September 25, you should have received your child's progress report via email. This report reflects your child's mastery of the AKS since August. You can visit the Parent Portal to access your child's current grades: https://go2.gwinnett.k12.ga.us/
Please refer to our grading policy for how to best support your child. If you have questions about your child's grades, please reach out to your child's teacher. Please keep reading to find out more about our grading policy.
Digital Learning Tip
Parents, please be mindful that digital learning is school for your students. While assisting your child is welcomed and appreciated, just as you wouldn't sit in their classroom, you're encouraged to allow them to independently engage in their online learning as well.
Be mindful of your student's classmates who may not feel comfortable engaging in a learning environment with adults other than their teachers present.

The Parent Center
In collaboration with the Division of Curriculum & Instruction, GCPS’s new districtwide initiative called AKS at Home is now online.
You are an important partner with your child’s teacher, whether your child is learning at home or at school. To help you support your child’s learning, GCPS is launching a new initiative called AKS at Home. With this project, families will learn ways to help their child practice skills they are learning in class as part of the district’s Academic Knowledge and Skills (AKS) curriculum.
The Parent Center is proud to announce the start of Live Zoom sessions to support students with their grade level AKS. Please email Xandria McBride to set up your Zoom session. Information to sign up for conferences will be sent out within the next week. Early Release is scheduled for October 21-22, 2020.
If you can’t make the live sessions, you will have access to a library of recorded sessions and tipsheets, available when you’re available. Find more information on the AKS at Home web page.
The Parent Center is open for parental support. Do you need support with Digital Learning? Please feel free to contact the Parent Center at 678-518-6981 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to schedule a Zoom session. There is a FREE program offered for parents through Tutor.com. The expert tutors at Tutor.com can help you work through a tough homework problem, improve your writing skills, study for a test, review a difficult concept, and so much more!
