Mrs. Waller's BHS Choir Class

Class Assignments May 4-8, 2020

Vocal Warm-Ups

Octave Jumps this week as high and as low as you can go on "Ah."

Remember your voice is uniquely your own and should not sound like anyone else's. Experiment with sound, with resonance, open your throat, and sing freely.

Which one is your fave?

Your assignment work this week is to listen to the following Barbershop Quartet. It might be a new type of singing for many of you, but this type of singing is thought to date back to the 1800s and is still famous today with traveling groups throughout the world. Your job is to email me at and answer the following questions:

1. Name 3 different styles or eras of singing the quartet incorporates into their performance.

2. What is your favorite style they performed?

3.What's the name of the song their singing?

4. How is this type of singing/performing (Barbershop Quartet) different from how a choir performs/sings?
