The Reading Corner with Mrs. Samuel and Mrs. Snyder
While I write this, middle schoolers in the podcasting elective are using a small room off of the library office that is perfect for recording. While I can’t hear them (which is why the room is perfect for recording!), I can see them and it is clear they are learning and having a blast.
The elective got me thinking about podcasts that are good for kids. As a parent, I like listening with my own children to Circle Round and But Why?. We use them on car trips, as well as during dinners where maaaaaaybe we all need to calm down a bit. ;)
I have also played podcasts for my children if they are having a hard time falling asleep or are stuck in bed sick. They can be such a fun resource for learning as a family!
You can use a wide variety of podcast players on your device. Here is a great list of podcasts to try out. Enjoy!

Happy reading (and listening!),

8th Grade Explores Erosion Prevention and Enjoys a Nature Scavenger Hunt
Bre Harris our Middle School Science Specialist shared this:
"In Science this week, 8th graders modeled various coastal erosion prevention techniques, making their own sea walls, artificial reefs, revetments, groynes, rip rap, etc .
In Nature Exploration, the class went on a sunny winter scavenger hunt, looking for mosses, lichens, snowflakes, seeds, birds, squirrels, tracks, scat, etc."
A fantastic hands on science experience! Great Job! And excellent Job Bre capturing the elusive 8th graders on camera!

Mrs. Snyder Shares Exciting Videos in Honor of the Lunar New Year!
"Many of your students have asked me to send home links to the traditional Chinese dances and songs I shared during music class last week and today in honor of the Lunar New Year. Please see the videos below. I cannot express to you what a joy it has been to see the awe and wonder on their faces as they watch these talented people."

Those teeth need to last a long time! How do we take care of our pearly whites?
Miss Camaya shared this:
"Today we worked on cotton ball tooth art and did a crazy science experiment. We put eggs in water, coke, and milk to see how the liquids affected a “tooth’s enamel”. I never knew how bad Coke was for your teeth!!
Tomorrow is Friday! We will work on finishing up Letter Dd, making salt dough to make dinosaur teeth pendants, “tooth” handprint art and lots of fun tracing!"
Miss Camaya
Great job preschoolers learning how to take care of yourself by keeping your teeth strong and healthy!
