Beowulf and Grendel

Background Information

The poem, Beowulf and Grendel was considered the first masterpiece of English literature. This poem has an unknown author, and is believed to be made around 700 - 750 AD.


The poem starts off with king Hrothgar being terrorized by Grendel. Grendel is an evil master who has been terrorizing king Hrothgar for years. Eventually, Grendel gets slain by a heroic warrior by the name of Beowulf. Beowulf dies shortly after the incident by a fatal after killing a dragon.
