ACURIL DEPLORA VANDALISMO
EN LA BIBLIOTECA GENERAL, UNIVERSIDAD DE ORIENTE, VENEZUELA
Expresión de tristeza, condena y llamado al Gobierno de Venezuela
Desde el 31 de mayo al 1ro de junio 2020, la Universidad de Oriente (UDO), localizada en el estado de Sucre (Venezuela), fue blanco de un ataque por parte de un grupo de delincuentes, que provocaron un incendio en la Biblioteca General de la institución, perdiendo miles de libros y estudios debido a las llamas. < La República>.

ACURIL expresa su profunda tristeza por la noticia y condena la acción maliciosa con la Biblioteca General de la UDO. Que este trágico evento sea una ocasión para reflexionar sobre la necesidad de fortalecer nuestro compromiso de proteger los materiales culturales, educativos, históricos y de investigación en bibliotecas, como entornos únicos, y revisar cómo podemos prevenir el vandalismo y mejorar nuestras medidas de respuesta.
ACURIL expresa su profunda solidaridad a los profesionales de bibliotecas, estudiantes, investigadores y a toda la comunidad afectada por esta pérdida considerable.

Expression of saddness, deploration and Call to the Venezuelan Government
From May 31 to June 1st 2020, a fire took place, at the General Library of the Universidad de Oriente in Sucre, Venezuela, caused by a group of criminals. Thousands of books, research materials and library areas were lost due to the fire.
ACURIL is deeply saddened by the news and deplores the malicious action with the UDO General Library. May this tragic event be an occasion to reflect on the need to strengthen our commitment to protect the cultural, educational, historical and research materials in libraries, as unique environments, and review on how we can prevent vandalism and improve our response measures.
ACURIL expresses its deep solidarity to the professionals of libraries, students, researchers and to the whole community affected by this considerable loss.

Expression de tristesse, de déploration et appel au gouvernement vénézuélien
Du 31 mai au 1er juin 2020, un incendie, dont on soupçonne l’origine criminelle, a détruit la Bibliothèque centrale de l'Université de Oriente à Sucre, au Venezuela. Des milliers de livres, de documents de recherche et de bibliothèques ont été détruits par l'incendie.
ACURIL est profondément attristé par les nouvelles et déplore l'action malveillante qui aurait été perpétré envers la Bibliothèque centrale de l'UDO. Puisse cet événement tragique être une occasion de réfléchir sur la nécessité de renforcer notre engagement à protéger les documents culturels, éducatifs, patrimoniaux et de recherche dans les bibliothèques, et les bibliothèques en tant qu'environnements uniques, et d'examiner comment nous pouvons prévenir le vandalisme et améliorer nos mesures d'intervention.
ACURIL exprime sa profonde solidarité aux professionnels des bibliothèques, étudiants, chercheurs et à toute la communauté affectée par cette perte considérable.
