A NOTE FROM YOUR HUGHES MIDDLE SCHOOL ADMINISTRATORS
HMS Parents and Friends,
We are all ready to enjoy the unveiling of a beautiful spring season. Along with managing allergies, rains, and chilly mornings, we are excited for the blossoms, new growth in nature, and warm mid-day temperatures. Our world is ready to explode with beauty.
Just like spring brings growth in nature, this time of year also brings opportunities to see the academic growth in our students. Students have worked so hard to learn the required content for their classes and during the next couple of weeks, reviews will begin for the end of year assessments. We hope everyone will work together to see our whole student body really shine.
Parents, it is also important to help our students remain responsible and accountable for their behaviors. It can be easy to have a "live and let live" attitude as our students get older but how we treat others is still important now more than ever. Reminders to be respectful to peers and adults on campus is so appreciated. We are hopeful that HMS will continue to see an increase in random acts of kindness and a reduction in office referrals at each grade level.
In this newsletter, you will find a few new pieces of information and several reminders about things happening on the campus. We hope you will take a few minutes to update your calendar and touch base with your child about how they are going to get involved in the upcoming events and activities.
In closing, we want to wish all our best wishes and positive vibes to Mrs. Schimming in her new Director of Special Services position at the administration building. Also, we wish each of you a fantastic 3-day weekend as many will be celebrating Easter.
Until next week,
Your HMS Administrative Team

FROM BISD ATHLETICS
The UIL updated its COVID protocols on March 4, 2021. The protocols still require masks at UIL events. For now, BISD will keep the COVID protocols that have been in place all year for 7th-12th athletic events. We will review the 50% stadium capacity if the need arises this Spring.
