What is the SGC?
What is the purpose of the SGC?
The purpose of the School Governance Council is to provide parents, school staff, and community members with a leadership role in the management of the school. The School Governance Council is a governing body that included combined representation of parents, the community and the school, but operates under the control and management of the Board of Education. The Council is responsible for making decisions regarding the strategic direction of the school.
Who serves on the SGC?
The School Governance Council, at the High School level, consists of nine (9) voting members:
3 - Parents/Guardians (elected)
2 - Teachers (elected)
2 - School Employees (appointed)
2 - Community Members (nominated)
School Principal (Non-voting member)

What are the responsibilities of SGC?
SGC's responsibilities include
· Approve the school Strategic Plan and updates
· Approve budget recommendations and related allocations
· Manage the Request for Flexibility process
· Participate in hiring of the Principal
· Provide annual feedback on Principal's performance
In addition, the Governance Council alongside the School Principal maintains Council certification and meet at least 6 times per year to discuss school progress towards meeting identified goals/outcomes.
Why should I vote?
When you vote, you are making an informed decision to elect representatives that will help strategically guide Tri-Cities in improving the academic success of ALL students. As a parent, this translates to having your voice heard and as a teacher, this translates to being equipped and empowered. Your voice counts and should be heard.
When does voting start?
The voting window will open Monday, March 19th, and close on Friday, March 23rd.
How can I cast my vote?
You (parents and teachers) will receive an email from the district with a unique link allowing you to vote in this year's election. Please make sure the school has your correct email address on file by visiting the front office.
