The River Hawk
Rio Norte News - March 24, 2023
A Note From the Principal
Good Morning River Hawk Families,
Next week is PE's annual River Hawk Walk to raise funds to replace PE equipment and bring new equipment to our students. We are still in great need of donations of oranges and water, as well as some assistance during class time. Please visit the Sign-Up Genius link right below my message (it's clickable).
The fourth quarter began on Monday and it's a fresh re-set for students to set new goals and stay on-top of their work to end the year strong. Please be sure you've been reading the emails that have gone out to 8th grade families about high school counseling registration next week through PE classes and to 7th grade families about the Healthy Choices Curriculum that begins right after spring break (more info. later in the newsletter).
Thank you to those who reached out in support of my message last week and to all of you who didn't, but took time to have valuable, authentic conversations at home with your student. I appreciate you echoing the importance of not using inappropriate, offensive language for any reason, including as a "joke," and encouraging students to report. Please remind your student they can always use our CareText at 661-213-9276 or email at riotip@hartdistrict.org These are monitored mostly during business hours.
If you didn't have a chance to see my message to students on Monday, please see the RioTV episode below the River Hawk Walk sign-up link. My message begins shortly after the Pledge of Allegiance.
In this issue learn more about:
- Sign-up to help our PTSA and our PE Department for the River Hawk Walk Fundraiser
- Our Honor Band Students

Mrs. Bennett

Fast Food Not Allowed
Please remember, as noted at the beginning of the year, that while we will gladly accept sack lunches and lunch boxes from home, we must ask that no fast food be dropped off or delivered to students, even by their own parent. Please understand that the office is work space for several people and fast food odors can be problematic, especially when different odors are mixing. Additionally, when fast food goes onto campus it can create issues of multiple friends wanting some of what your kid was delivered and has resulted in issues between friends. Thank you for your understanding.
