Lexia Core 5
Reading Instructional Platform
Dear 1A Parent/Guardian,
Last week, Principal Akinola-Pinard sent a Smore announcing our partnership with an amazing reading program called Lexia Core5. The activities in Core5 support and build on our classroom curriculum and focus on developing reading skills in six areas: phonological awareness, phonics, structural analysis, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. Please refer to her newsletter for more information as to why we adopted the program.
There are four key steps to getting started:
Locating the website (computer/Chromebook) or downloading the app (iPad)
First Time Login
Auto-placement activity

#3: Auto-Placement Activity
It is important that your child works without any help while answering the questions on Lexia Core5. The first activity they will do helps the program place them at a level that they can work at independently. However, for younger students, if they need help clicking a button please show them how to click without giving the answer.
The activity will take 10-15 minutes. If your child does not finish at one time, then make sure to PRESS THE RED X BUTTON TO SAVE THEIR WORK.
Tips:
Make sure your child can do the activity in a quiet place or with headphones so they can hear the instructions clearly.
Check out this Navigation Button guide to know which buttons will help them to listen to something again, move forward, and log out.
IMPORTANT: Each time your child logs out to stop work they must click the red X button to save their progress.
