Let the School Year Begin!

Building Day for Staff

After a district day for Convocation, the SIlver Lake staff had our building day on the Tuesday before students started. I was able to meet and share a little more about me as well as some expectations for the year. I was also able to learn so much from the staff because of their dedication to their craft as well as their dedication to the students of Silver Lake Elementary. In between session we did a team challenge of stacking cups using only strings and rubber band. Teamwork and communication are always key components to any organization. To the staff, thank you for an amazing day. I know there will be plenty more in our future!

Traffic Reminders

Between the hours of 7:30am and 4:00pm Overlook Rd, which is at the front of the school, is a one-way street heading south and Millboro Rd, which is at the back of the school, is a one-way street heading north.

If you are dropping of your students and stop in front of a fire hydrant, please be sure to not leave your vehicle. If you want to leave your vehicle, remember to think about safety and not block a hydrant.

Kdg parents dropping off and picking up their students. Avoid the bus area in the back. The bushes to the fence is the area we need to keep clear. The area in front of the field and after the fence is where we ask parents to park.

Playground Use Outside of School Hours

Before School, we ask that no students be on the playground sets as there is not any supervision outside until the bell rings at 8:30am to allow students into the building.

After school, once students have joined their parents/guardians and are in their care and under their supervision students may be on the playground sets. Again, this is an issue with supervision and we do not want anything to happen to our little Black Tigers.

Silver Lake Elementary Bike Rack

Thanks to the wonderful people in our district, we were able to get a bike rack at school. A huge shoutout to Bolich MS for offering this to us. Talk about Black Tiger Pride :)

K-3 Bus Safety Meetings

Silver Lakers in grade K-3 hopped on buses to hear about bus safety from our very amazing CFCSD bus drivers. These folks are the first and last faces many of our students see every day and we thank them for all they do! They have such an important job keeping our Little Black Tigers safe.

Back to School Bash

Friday August 19 was our first Friday of the school year and so our Home and School League helped kick off the school year in a big way. There was music, games, and ice cream! Families were able to enjoy the beautiful weather and each other. I truly enjoyed getting to meet and speak with many families and was happy to see our Superintendent Dr. Celico as well as Board of Education Members Ms. Alecia Coco and Mrs. Carrie Schaefer out and about as well! The support for the building is greatly felt and greatly appreciated.

From the Clinic

Immunizations

Letters were sent to parents of students who need Immunizations. Exemption forms were included in the envelopes for any families wishing to go that route. September 14 is the required deadline for either the immunizations or the exemption forms before students will not be allowed to school until those requirements are met. Please call the school and we will connect you to our School Medical Assistant if you have any questions.

Medications

Any parents wishing to have their student take medicine at school need to bring the medications to the clinic. Medications (prescription or over-the-counter) need to be in an unopened box as well as not be expired. Our School Medical Assistant will have a form to fill out
