Ebert Updates
Dear UMAC Parents,
It was wonderful to see so many of you Thursday evening for Parent Night. Thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedule to come learn more about what your child will be doing in UMAC this year. I am very excited a great year of learning with my awesome team. They have already proven themselves to be hard workers and motivated learners!
Have a great week!

MAP Testing
It’s time for our Fall MAP Testing (Measure of Academic Progress). As teachers, we use this test to help find student's instructional level in reading and math. It also helps us measure your child’s growth within the school year, as well as year to year. Our team will take the math test on Tuesday, September 13th from 1:40 -3:10pm and the reading test on Wednesday, September 14th from 1:40 - 3:10pm. It is very helpful if all students are here on these two days.
Reading
Our UMAC readers are reviewing character traits and emotions. Character’s emotions change frequently and are a response to actions around them. Character traits are what we learn about a character based on what he/she says, does, thinks, and feels. Students are using clues in the text to infer both traits and emotions.
Math
New friends: Our new friends will be reviewing and analyzing different methods of addition and subtraction. However, we will be using the traditional method in class. As we shared with you, please continue to have your child practice their math facts daily.
Old friends: Last week old friends explored different ways to compare fractions. Our old friends also learned a fun way to change a mixed number fraction to an improper fraction. This week we will work on adding and subtracting fractions with unlike denominators.
