Welcome Back - First Day of School is Monday August 30th
The school day starts at 7:25 AM. First bell rings at 720 AM. Gates open at 7:05 AM. Students must wear masks when on campus!
Please Bring Water Bottle
IMPORTANT MASK POLICY UPDATE
- Masks are always required indoors. Masks are now required outdoors at all times while students are on campus unless they are eating. Currently, large-scale events are not recommended for any school sites due to the increased risk of exposure.
SDUSD makes all decisions in hopes of protecting everyone's health and safety and will continue to base all decisions on current information and data. In this case, that new information has to do with the increased case rates in our surrounding communities, especially in school communities.
PLEASE REVIEW THE BACK TO SCHOOL GUIDE FOR OTHER HEALTH AND SAFETY GUIDANCE!
Testing Information for Students
This message was sent our from SDUSD last week:
All families are now required to make a choice on Covid testing at the start of the new school year. Every family must complete the below form and submit their response online at this time. Free Covid testing in school not only helps prevent the spread of the virus, but it also helps more students stay in school and continue their education.
To opt-in for testing for your child, please complete the COVID-19 Testing Acknowledgement Form on PowerSchool. Please Note: A PowerSchool Username and Password will be required to complete this form. If you do not have the Access ID and Password for your student, please contact your school site’s office following the first day of school on August 30th.
If you prefer filling the form out on paper, please complete and turn it into your school's front office: English | Spanish | Tagalog | Vietnamese | Arabic | Somali | Swahili
When signed in to PowerSchool, go to the Forms section in the left-hand side navigation bar. There you will find the COVID-19 Testing Form.
COVID-19 TESTING
UC San Diego and Responsive Lab Partners medical professionals will be at SDUSD schools to conduct COVID-19 testing for students and staff, free of charge.
Correia Middle School Testing Day
Tuesdays 12:00 - 3:00 PM
Testing starts Monday August 30, 2021
Immunization Records & Tdap
We apologize for any inconvenience that the immunization requirement has caused. ALL students must have ALL shot records up-to-date in order to start school. This includes the Tdap booster that is required for grades 7-12 grade. Unfortunately, students without updated vaccinations cannot start school!
- Parent(s) bring or send required paperwork to school showing that all immunizations are up-to-date. Please email our school nurse Paloma Soriano at psoriano@sandi.net with updated records.
Student Drop-Off Safety - Arrival and Dismissal
Expect traffic delays during student drop-off and pick-up the first week of school. Due to the Correia Solar Project, the Correia lower parking lot will be closed for approximately 45 days. This will limit options for drop-off. Recommended drop-off options:
- Front of the school- this area will be congested and expect long traffic delays.
- Back gate along Famosa Street- parents can drop off students on Famosa St. near the PL Softball Field or at Bill Cleator Park and students can walk in the back gate. This Gate will be opened at 7:05 AM.
- Parents can drop off students on nearby streets (Clovis, Montalvo, Mentone, Famosa, Worden) and students can walk a couple of blocks to school.
Please do not drop students in the middle of the street or on the corners in the middle of crosswalks. Students need to use crosswalks and not cross in open traffic. During school days we are in a highly congested area and want to keep students safe. Admin staff is not there to direct traffic, they are there to cross students. We ask that you please obey all traffic laws. Please be patient. The safety of our kids is important!
BIKES AND SKATEBOARDS - HELMETS REQUIRED!
The bike rack is located at the end of the bungalows above the lunch court. While the bike rack is locked during the school day we ask students to lock up their bikes when at school. Their will be rolling recycling bins that are used to store skateboards. Bins will be located between Room 302 and Room 306. Skateboards must be labeled for identification. Students must wear a helmet to school to earn the privilege of storing a skateboard on campus. We offer this service as a courtesy to our beach community! Students who arrive late with a skateboard and/or without a helmet will lose the privilege of bringing their skateboard to school. We appreciate parent cooperation in keeping our kids safe!
Lunch Presentation
We ask that, when eating without a mask, students maintain 6 ft. separation. This is an important part of contact tracing and keeping kids in school. When finished eating, students must put masks back on. Please review the lunch presentation with your student. In addition, teachers will review on Monday.
Missed Student Orientation?
If you were unable to attend orientation, schedules and welcome back packets will be located in the front quad.
Completed forms in welcome back packets are due back on Wednesday, September 8th.
Please visit the Correia Counseling Page to request a schedule change. We ask that students go to the classes they are assigned until we can make the necessary corrections. Thank you for your patience.
Picture Day- September 3rd
This year our school picture company will be Jostens Photography and Yearbook. All school photos will be linked to our school yearbook (based on parent permissions). In addition, Jostens offers more affordable pricing and delivery options.
Ordering information will be sent out later this week!
