Notes from the Nurse
Hello All-Star Families!
Last week we talked about sleep and how important it is to establish healthy sleep habits!
This week we are going to talk about self-care! Everyone needs self-care; it affects the health of the entire family! Family wellness and healthy choices are important for academic success!
- Set a regular daily and bedtime schedule- see last week's post
- Manage stress and anxiety as a family-children learn what they see from their parents! Try yoga, coloring, meditation, exercise, or reading together.
- Don't watch the news- you don't need a daily dose of doom and gloom
- Try a hobby as a family-paint or spend time doing things you never have time for! Set a weekly family date to do a hobby or play a game!
- Set 30 minutes aside for each child- at my house we call it pillow talk! We cuddle when we get home, and my daughter tells me all about her day! I listen without offering advice or judgement! This is the best way to build a relationship with your child where they feel comfortable telling you everything about their lives!
- Limit electronic and social media time. Everyone in my home gets one hour a day!
Have a safe and healthy week All-Star families!
