Sequoia Monday Memo
Week of November 30, 2015
Equity Survey
The district has created an Equity Survey that they would like every single employee to complete. It has to be completed by December 18th. This includes all support staff as well. I will be sending out a survey link and scheduling a time for you to complete. It takes approximately 30 minutes. For certified, we will be completing it during our staff meeting. Classified staff will be complete it sometime next week during our early release time.
Holiday Party
I would like to have a holiday get together for our staff. Angelina is looking at possible locations for the 18th from 4:30-7:30. It would be an informal gathering with hors d'oeuvres and drinks. If you have any suggestions on places to meet, please let me know. More information will be forthcoming.
Minimum Week
I sent you an invite to the wrong prep schedule. I will make corrections and send it to you tomorrow. I apologize for any inconvenience. Please ignore that Prep Schedule.
SART/SARB
We are beginning the SART (Student Attendance Review Team) and SARB (Student Attendance Review Board) process for several of our families with chronic absences. This process requires some intervention time, and there are procedures we have to follow. We will be trying to offer support to all of our families struggling with chronic attendance. You will be informed when a child in your class has entered the SART or SARB process. Also, students who have more than 6 tardies and/or 6 absences have already received a letter from our office, as well as one from the district. Just like with any intervention however, we need to give it time to work.
Kudos!
I want to thank Jackie, Jessica, Sandra, Susan, Heather, Tontra and Kevin (Well, his student teacher) for showing us amazing examples of the Workshop Model. LaResha and I were in rooms just observing and watching some really great instruction. Thanks for making Sequoia look good.
Upcoming Tours
On Wednesdays this month, we will be hosting our prospective parent tours. We will try and not spend a great deal of time interrupting instruction, but we will be touring several classrooms. The tour times are 9:00-9:30, 10:00-10:30, 12:00-12:30. Each tour will QUICKLY visit a few rooms, in both upper and lower grades. Additionally, we will move through the building. If you would like your room to be showcased please let me know. I would also ask, that you talk to the kiddos about making sure they are demonstrating the 4 Core Values.
