ACT-Tuesday, May 3rd
On Tuesday, May 3rd, all students labeled as junior status are required by the state (the Illinois State Board of Education) to take the ACT. In addition, this is free of charge for all junior status students. Students who are not at junior status have this day to stay home and catch up on their work. This means that Class Connects on this day will be cancelled FOR HIGH SCHOOL ONLY.
Students with Junior Status will be expected to be in the building by 8:15AM and no later than 8:30AM. Please ensure that transportation is set-up prior to Tuesday, May 3rd to avoid any issues with your junior student getting to school on time on that day. We are not sure yet what time students will be released on this day. Once we get more information from CPS, we will let all the junior families know.
Even if your child took the ACT last year as a junior, but then failed junior year, they are still required to take the ACT again since they failed junior year and are still at “junior status”. If you have questions about grade-level status, please kmail both Ms. Yeager and Ms. Jones. There is no cost for this exam and, again, is mandatory for every student in “junior status” even if the student took the ACT before.
Learning Lab Closed-May 3rd
Due to ACT Testing Learning Lab will be closed.
SAVE THE DATE-CVCS Carnival
The CVCS End of the Year Carnival will be held the morning of Monday, June 20th in the Merit Parking Lot. More details to come.
Career Day for Juniors and Seniors-WE NEED VOLUNTEERS
On Thursday, May 12, from 9-10:30 a.m., CVCS will host its annual Career Day for Juniors and Seniors! Do you know of friends, colleagues, or family members who are willing to share information about careers and higher education? Or perhaps you would be willing to volunteer. As in the past, students will have prepared questions as they meet with our guests. If you know of someone who can join us in this endeavor, please click on the below link and provide information no later than Monday, May 9. Refreshments and a continental breakfast will be provided at 8:30 a.m. Thank you so much for your support!
Here are some tips for our guests:
Explanation of your job-describe your job emphasizing work hours, job duties, special training education needed, length of employment, employer, etc.
Background and Experience - place an emphasis on pride in self, and school. If you had any obstacles/barriers you had to overcome to get where you are today, please share with the students.
