Food Drive Frenzy
NorthWood HS Student Council is pleased and honored to announce that our school just received one of the highest recognitions from The Student Hunger Drive! With all of your help, we surpassed last year’s amount of 18,642 pounds of food by raising 30,131 pounds! Since the competition also figures average pounds per student from the competing high schools, NWHS averaged 34.356 pounds of food per student (21.333 last year). In both categories, total pounds and average per student, we were the top school! This feat has never been done before in 6 years of the Student Hunger Drive.
NWHS Student Council wants to thank and congratulate all of you! Here were some of the contributions from our schools over the last month...
Donations through special events:
-- NorthWood HS One Dime at a Time and Donations through the week - $800 plus 1,953 pounds of food.
-- NorthWood MS “We Scare Hunger” Campaign and Money Drive for FCDC - $700 plus 1,292 pounds of food.
-- Nappanee Elem Pajama Day and Hat Day - $273 to Feed My Starving Children and $100 to FCDC
-- Wakarusa Elem “One Dime at a Time Campaign Week” - $2,012.14
-- Woodview Elem “One Dime at a Time” Collection - $434.05
-- Through our council's work with Student Hunger Drive, we also gained an additional 971 pounds of food that will be donated to the Food Bank of Northern Indiana.
It is amazing to think that in little over a week our corporation could raise 30,131 pounds of food for our local food banks. With the contributions of all the 10 participating schools, we raised over 123,381 pounds for various pantries in Northern Indiana!
This was the 6th year for The Student Hunger Drive and our 2nd year participating. This achievement was only possible with the selflessness of our students, staff, and our Wa-Nee community. You are all truly amazing! Thank you so much for all that you do!
