Second Semester Schedules
MS International Social - Feb. 8
Below you will find the permission slip to attend the social. It must be signed by a parent/guardian and brought to school on Feb. 8.
Safety Reminder - PM Pick Up Procedures
If you pick up ISB students at the end of the school day, please do not park on the north side of Blanton Street. Doing so creates significant yet avoidable safety risks for students and bottlenecks the traffic flow. Please use our parking lot. If you want to avoid the traffic during dismissal, consider picking up your students 10 minutes later or have them ride the bus. Thank you.
Immunization Exclusion Day - Feb. 20
State law requires that all children in public and private schools, preschools, Head Start and certified child care facilities have up-to-date immunizations, or have a medical or nonmedical exemption.
Parents or guardians will receive a letter in early February if their child’s immunization record shows that he or she has not received the required vaccinations. Children will not be able to attend school or childcare starting February 20, 2019, if their records on file show missing immunizations.
In preparation for Exclusion Day, students are invited to visit the Beaverton SBHC to get caught up on any needed immunizations. The SBHC is open to taking immunization appointments any time during business hours. While the flyer below is for a specific clinic day, we always encourage patients to call and make an appointment for immunizations any time prior to Exclusion Day in order to avoid being excluded.
Help ISB Maximize Instructional Time
The following strategies will help parents and office staff avoid interrupting instructional time:
On Time and Ready to Learn
Parents who drive their students to school in the morning should leave home early enough to enter the parking lot no later than 7:20 am. Students who arrive later tend to be late to their first class of the day. Support your student's success by ensuring they arrive on time and ready to learn each day.
Delivering Items During Class
From time to time students forget their lunch, books, homework, etc. at home. Please let your student know that if this were to happen, you will drop the item in the main office and he/she is responsible for picking it up during passing time or lunchtime.
Sending Messages to Students
Families are asked to please coordinate how the student is getting back home prior to the start of the school day. We understand that during the day an emergency may arise, we will only make exceptions to send messages to students in case of an emergency.
Picking up Students Early
If you know you will be picking up your student before the end of the school day, please send a note with them indicating the date and time they will be picked up as well as the reason for the absence. They should show the note to the Attendance Secretary when they arrive at school, and then to the teacher at the beginning of the class period from which they need to be excused. At the indicated time, the teacher will send them to the main office to meet you. Allow at least five minutes for your student to show up. A parent/guardian must sign the student out before leaving the school.

Free eBooks
Ebooks are available from the Beaverton School District using students’ library accounts.
“Sora, by Overdrive” is a new app that simplifies access to BSD library ebooks. It is created by the same ebook company that provides Libby for the WCCLS ebooks. With a Washington County library card you are able to access ebooks from both systems using just the Sora app. Instructions on how to access the Sora app: Sora App Information Handout
Student Survey
High school students will be surveyed this year by accessing a link in their Career Information System (CIS) account. The survey will be available in English and Spanish. The survey window is February 4-June 14.
Each year the District surveys students, staff, and parents to gather information for planning, program evaluation, and assessment of progress on the District's Strategic Plan.
The student survey takes about 20 minutes during the regular school day. The data gathered from the survey are anonymous; your child will not put his/her name or other identifying information on the survey. Like other surveys, results will be presented only about groups.. No individual data will be reported.
Student surveys of middle and high schools include three optional questions for students to identify their gender, ethnicity / race, and sexual orientation. These questions allow for additional levels of analysis of questions on inclusion, safety and bullying.
Your child may skip questions or stop filling out the survey at any time. Refusing to participate or withdrawing from the survey does not affect your child's grades or class standing in any way. If you or your child does not want to participate, your child can read or do some other activity while his or her classmates complete the survey.
A copy of the survey is available from your child's school and is posted at
https://www.beaverton.k12.or.us/district/research-reports
After reviewing the survey, if you do not want your child to participate, please notify scott_carey-gladney@beaverton.k12.or.us before February 5.
https://www.beaverton.k12.or.us/district/research-reports
Después de revisar la encuesta, si usted no quiere que su hijo participe, por favor notifique a scott_carey-gladney@beaverton.k12.or.us antes del 5 de Febrero.
