CKE Monday Notes
"If It's to Be, It's Up to Me!"
STEM DAY AT COKER!
This Friday at Coker we will participate school-wide in our first STEM Day for the 2016-2017 school year. Amy and Regina will return to provide support and all non-classroom faculty/staff will be assigned to a specific grade level to provide assistance. K-2 will conduct their activities in the morning until lunch and 3-6 will participate all day. If you can recall our first STEM day last spring it was so much fun to watch our students get so excited and engrossed in what they were doing. We are excited about Friday and want to thank everyone in advance for all of your hard work in preparing for our first STEM day this year!
National School Lunch Week
As we prepare for another week let's all support our Coker Cafe and THANK our AWESOME cafeteria staff for all of their hard work each and every day. I'm sure that there will be quite a few giveaways for students this week. They will love that!
Grandparents Day Breakfast
This Friday (10/14), our Coker Cub Club will host our annual Grandparents Day Breakfast in the cafeteria. The event will begin at 6:45 and end at 7:45. Students who normally eat in the cafeteria in the morning will eat in their classrooms. We are excited about this event and want to make all of our grandparents feel welcome. Any extra assistance that could be provided would be greatly appreciated!
Fall Picture Day
BPI will be here this Thursday (10/13) to take fall pictures. Please remind your students and parents about this upcoming event. We want to make sure that everyone is ready. As far as we know all school personnel receive 50% off their photo purchases. And don't forget with this event that the media center will be closed until further notice.
Weekly PLC - Team B Meeting - The Yellow Team
Team B PLC a.k.a. the Yellow Team will meet in the media center on Wednesday (10/12) afternoon to conduct their monthly PLC meeting. The meeting will start at 3:10 and be sure to bring the copy of the article for this month.

Growth Mindset for students - Episode 5/5
Growth Mindset Episode #5 - ClassDojo
Discussion Guide - Please take a few minutes this week and share this brief video with your homerooms and complete a journal entry for your class. Please compile these as we progress through all five videos over the next few weeks. Please let me know if you have any questions. These videos are elementary but get the point across regarding a growth mindset.
in Episode 5, "Little by Little," Mojo and Katie embark on their greatest challenge yet - but still face a setback.
1. What does it feel like when something is too challenging? Is it wrong that we feel this way?
2. What kind of attitude should we take on when facing a challenge, and why is that important?
3. When taking on a challenge, it's okay to ask for help or to take a break to reflect, like Mojo did! Does this mean we aren't growing our brain anymore?
