Broken Arrow Weekly Update

Looking Forward to the Week of April 17-21

Message from Mrs. Green

Another fabulous week is in the books at Broken Arrow. This week our 3rd-5th grade students ROCKED THE TEST as they took their ELA State Assessments, 5th grade students met author Kate Klise and mastered volume, 1st graders learned even more about place value, students enjoyed slime time, 4th graders worked on their Wax Museum projects, we had another FABULOUS Bingo Night event and so much more. As we move into the home stretch of the school year, we appreciate your support with making sure students come to school, on time, each day! We will soon move into our Spring activities and end of the year assessments and it will be important for students to be at school ready to show and celebrate all that they have learned!

Please take a moment to see some updates for the coming week(s) at Broken Arrow including information that came out about the Boundary Committee Update.

Also, many of you may have seen the news release from Julie Boyle yesterday regarding my position for next school year. I am beyond thrilled to continue to serve the students and families at Broken Arrow through this transition. I am, and will continue to be, here for Broken Arrow! Thank you for your continued support.

NO SCHOOL April 17

School will not be in session on Monday, April 17th since we have not had any inclement weather days this school year. I hope you all enjoy your long weekend!

Lawrence Public Schools' 2023-2024 Annual Student Registration is now open through April 30th!

Annual Student Registration is required for ALL students, except current seniors graduating this spring. It is separate from middle/high school course enrollment.

Why do we have Parents/Guardians complete the Annual Student Registration each year?

  • Indicate if your student(s) is returning to the district next year

  • Update addresses, contact information and emergency contacts

  • Update student Health History

  • Sign acknowledgments

  • Plan staffing to meet student needs for the next school year. This is especially important as Broken Arrow is closing and I want to make sure your student's next school is planning for your student.

How do I get started?

Log into your PowerSchool account and complete the Annual Student Registration for 2023-2024: https://usd497.powerschool.com

Find detailed instructions here: https://tinyurl.com/yc73mnzj

  • Be sure to use a web browser when starting this process (Chrome is preferred)

  • Annual Student Registration is unavailable through the mobile PowerSchool app

Don't have an account?

Create your Parent/Guardian PowerSchool account,
Once created, connect your student(s) to your account by using the student access code(s) and password(s) provided by your school.

If you misplaced the access codes or did not receive them, please contact me at 785-832-5600 or mwalthal@usd497.org

Need help? Call or email Mrs Walthall at the school.

Thank you for completing Annual Student Registration by April 30.

We are so proud of their growth this school year and all that they have learned and are excited for them to show what they know. If your student is struggling with anxious feelings around this topic, please reach out.

Kindergarten Enrollment Information

We may not know what school looks like for Broken Arrow next year, but 5 year olds will go to kindergarten somewhere! We want our kindergarten families to register early so the district can make plans for next year. Hiring and teacher movement is dependent on the Spring forecast of Kindergarten Enrollment. CLICK HERE TO ACCESS KINDERGARTEN ENROLLMENT INFO!

We will wait to assign schools until boundary changes are finalized and will continue to keep you updated as we know more.

The Transfer Request Form will not be available until boundaries have been finalized. At that time, we will have the new form available at THE LINK HERE
