Early College Academy Applications!
Are you interested in earning FREE college credit while earning high school credit? The Early College Academy is the perfect fit for you! Check out the details HERE! You must fill out two applications and take the ACT or Accuplacer Test. Sign up to take the Accuplacer at LHS HERE! Testing is limited to the first 40 students. You must have a MCC student ID before signing up for the test.
NCC Shadows, Application, & News!
Are you interested in possibly applying to NCC for next year? You will need to submit an application and do a shadow as part of the application process. Shadows are being scheduled now. Pick up an application in the counseling office or online.

Area Career Center (Excelsior Springs) shadow visits.
Students interested in applying to the Area Career Center in Excelsior Springs for next year must complete a virtual shadow visit as part of their application. Students can now scheduled their shadow visit HERE.

Possible Dual Credit Scholarship for Juniors and Seniors
The Missouri Department of Higher Education and Workforce Development is pleased to announce the Dual Credit/Dual Enrollment Scholarship application for the current Spring 2022 semester is now open. High school juniors and seniors may be eligible for a scholarship for tuition for dual credit courses. For more information click HERE. Priority deadline is Feb 1st
LPS Community Scholarship Program
The Liberty Community Scholarship Program is OPEN! It is made up of scholarships given through the generosity of 30+ local organizations. All seniors from LHS and LNHS are eligible to apply; all organizations accept the same application! Each scholarship will be awarded to seniors from LHS and/or LNHS. Over $86,000 and 73 awards were given last May. **Did you know?? Not only has this incredible program helped students along their academic journies through 2-year & 4-year colleges, but it has also assisted students through vocational & trade schools! Look for the ** symbol preceeding the scholarship title which indicates the scholarship as a vocational trade school-focused scholarship. The submission deadline is 4pm on February 4, 2022. Local Scholarships Available
SENIORS - Local Scholarships continue to come in! Check your Naviance Account under the College Tab and select Scholarship Search to see what is available! You might set a reminder to check back each week as we are in the thick of Scholarship Season! Remember Scholarships are available for many different reasons, not just merit based scholarships. A few to Highlight this week: Specific Majors - Like Missouri PTA Scholarship for future educators, USDA scholarships for those interested in Agriculture. Memorial Scholarships - Have you been impacted by organ transplant? You might look into the Ryan Grace Memorial scholarship. Play a Specific Sport like Golf? You should check out the MWGEA scholarship. Take some time to look at the list. You might be surprised what you can qualify for! When it comes to paying for college, every little bit helps!!!
KC SCHOLARS
KC Scholars is excited to share a great scholarship opportunity for current 9th and 11th graders as well as adults looking to return to college to complete their degree. The KC Scholars scholarship application opened on January 1, 2021 and the deadline to apply is February 25, 2021. There are 3 scholarships to select from.
1. Traditional Scholarship – For current 11th graders – students awarded a $10,000 scholarship renewable for up to 5 years.
2. College Savings Account/Match – For current 9th graders – students awarded with a College Savings account and additional incentive funds.
3. Adult Learner Scholarship – For adults with some college but no degree selected to receive up to a $5,000 scholarship renewable for up to 5 years.

Missouri Leadership Seminar 10th graders
The MLS will be held June 3-5 on the University of Central Missouri Campus. This leadership seminar is for current sophomores interested in discovering their leadership potential. Interested students need to apply. Students can learn about the MLS via their website HERE. Interested students may fill out an application HERE and submit to the counseling office by March 1st.
Grow Your Own Teacher Application Window Now Open
LPS is pleased to announce the launch of its Grow Your Own Teacher Program for the 2021-2022 school year! This Grow Your Own Teacher (GYOT) program is designed to recruit and retain a diverse educator workforce. As a loan forgiveness program, the GYOT is available for students of color who are currently enrolled in LPS as high school seniors. Interested students must apply by completing an application and submitting the necessary documentation by the deadline on February 4, 2022. Four LPS students will be selected as recipients of a financial award in the amount of $2,500/year for four years ($10,000 total) to be applied toward college tuition in the form of a forgivable loan. National Backward Day is celebrated on Jan. 31st to encourage us to do things oppositely. It's a time to take a look at our actions to see how reversing them can be effective and fun at the same time. Did You Know... that penguins cannot walk backwards?
