Happy New Year

Parents.

Happy New Year! We are really excited about this semester and have so many exciting things coming up this semester. The students are excited to be back and we can not wait to see how much they grow this spring not only in size, but also in skills. We are gearing up for our spring testing at the end of April. We also have our Dolphin Dash 5K race coming up Saturday, February, 29th. Please make sure to sign up for this as it will support all our schools. You can go to our webpage or Facebook page to do so-

A few reminders, please watch attendance. I know we had some illness going on in December so our attendance was down a little bit, but unless your child is sick, please make sure they are at school. Also, our car line has worked so well because people you guys have followed procedures and everyone has done their jobs:) Please continue to make sure you drop your student off at the designated areas in the morning and pick them up in the designated areas in the afternoon. It helps things go smoothly and is super important to safety. Also, please remember that we begin at 7:50 a.m. and students are considered tardy after that and must get a tardy slip.

We are beginning our AR program this semester so students will have set goals with reading books. This will be a fun way for them to challenge themselves to read more plus they get to choose books that they are interested in which always is lots of fun for them! As always, thank you so much for everything you guys do and for sending us such awesome kids! Please let us know if we can ever assist in any way.

Christmas Around the World

During Christmas Around the World, the students took their passports and traveled around the campus to learn all about holiday traditions of other cultures. The students had fun while learning from students in other classrooms and other grade levels than their own.

Gulf Shores Elementary Honor Society

For the first time ever, GSES has a chapter of the National Elementary Honor Society! Students in 4th and 5th grades, who have attended GSES for a whole semester, who have demonstrated exemplary citizenship and leadership, and who have an academic grade average of at least 90% will be eligible for this honor. More information is coming soon for those who qualify. We are so excited about this opportunity for our students!

Spelling Bee

Congratulations Spelling Bee Winner, Hampton Howard and Runner Up Nicholas Chiseev. The whole school is wishing Hampton good luck as he moves forward to the County wide competition on February 4th. The winner of the County Spelling Bee will advance to the State Spelling Bee in Birmingham.
