Dear King Families

This newsletter includes some important information for families about procedures and protocols for the return of in-person learning for students in the near future.

Asynchronous Days: Due to the impending snow storm, there have been some adjustments to the week's schedule. Monday, 2/1/21 and Wednesday, 2/3/21 will be asynchronous days for students. Teachers will hold a live google meet from 9:00-9:15am both days to take attendance and preview the tasks for the day. Students will be given assignments for the day that will be self-paced. This is the only live time students will have with their teacher to allow for preparations to begin the building for in-person learning.

On Tuesday, 2/2, school will be closed. It will be considered a snow day and will be made up in June.

This week's King Connections includes:

  • District Return to School Update- January 29th
  • King Re-Opening Information
  • Roary's PAWSitive News
  • Daily Wellness Checks at Home
  • February's Character Theme: Compassion
  • Karen Dempsey Scholarship
  • PTO Website
  • Grab N' Go Meals
  • Mass.Gov Travel Updates

Best,

Allison

Please note: The district has created this "Return to Learn" page that includes timely planning updates and resources for families.

Return to School Update- January 29th

Phase I and II students return on 2/4/21 (For King, these are the students who were already in the building on 10/5/20). All other King students who opted to return to in-person learning will be welcomed back at a soon-to-be determined date.

It is important to note that breakfast and lunch will be served for students who return to school daily. Breakfast will be "grab and go" and will be eaten in the classroom. Lunch will be served in the cafeteria and students will be seated 6 feet apart, facing the same direction.

Students will need to bring their school-issued chromebook and charger back to school when they return. The chromebook and charger travel back and forth with students each day and a new protective case will be provided.

Safety Protocols/Procedures: We will be following all district protocols outlined in the FPS Back to School Plan. It is essential that all students wear a mask on the bus and at school, practice social distancing and hand washing.

Lastly, if your student is staying remote when in-person learning begins, we want to acknowledge that their days may feel a bit different than previous remote days as staff and students who are in person will be adjusting to the school building and learning new protocols and procedures. Thank you for your patience as we work through this together.
