Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
The Christmas party was excellent! Our class enjoyed a delicious snack, made an ornament, played BINGO, and a bean bag tossing game. Take a look at all of the fun your child had!
Christmas in Kindergarten
We had a great time visiting other Kindergarten classrooms last week. Each Kindergarten teacher read a story and had a special activity for the students. In our room, we read the story "Santa's Moose" and we made reindeer food. I hope your child enjoyed leaving their food out for the reindeer on Christmas Eve!
Christmas time is one of the best times of the year to write! There are so many wonderful topics we have been covering and our class has been enjoying every minute of it! We discussed reindeer and identified what they are, what they have, and what they can do. Our class also created a gingerbread boy or girl, and wrote about him or her!
- In phonics we focused on the -an word family.
- We practiced writing -an word family words on whiteboards, and identifying the words in sentences!
Your child is still working on understanding addition as putting together and adding to, and understand subtraction as taking apart and taking from.
We practice representing addition with objects, fingers, mental images, drawings, sounds (e.g., claps), acting out situations, or verbal explanations.
What your child has learned so far:
- Using the plus sign
- Representing and explaining addition with equations
Take a Look at Jonathan's Week as Star!
Nicholette will be our next Star! Nicholette loves coming to school! She always comes into the classroom eager to start the day. She loves to write and illustrate. One of Nicholette's favorite things to do at school is write letters and draw pictures for other teachers and friends! We know you are taking great care of Boog over the break, we can't wait to hear about all the fun you had.
