Lemonade Day was a Success!!

Our chicks went back to the farmer yesterday. We will miss them but are happy that they will have more space to roam around at the farm! They were getting quite big! It was such a fun experience watching them hatch and grow!

We have wrapped up our study of money and are now focusing on measurement!

We will continue our fairy tale writing unit. We are now publishing our final drafts! They are doing a GREAT job!

2nd Graders at Thorpe Creek Elementary will be issued a challenge to reduce, recycle and reuse. Students will be asked to think like a scientist in order to design a tool that meets a specific need. The materials for the tool MUST be reusable. We will wrap this up next week. The eggs arrived this week and then are in the incubator. We will begin candling them next week to observe and learn about the lifecycle of a chicken.

Word Study:

Word study in 2nd grade includes spelling, phonics, and vocabulary development. We will be focusing on 15 new vocabulary words. Those words are: reduce, reuse, recycle, engineer, design, environment, pollution, hazardous waste, compost, landfill, biodegradable, energy, disposable, and conservation.
