PARKING LOT REMINDERS!
Hello Parents,
I would like to share some parking lot and community street information with you. The north parking lot, Admiral St. and Danna St. have several challenges with traffic when it comes to dropping off and picking up children. Over the years the Emerson community has made it a priority to practice patience and tolerance and follow some simple guidelines. It is YOU that makes the difference in our parking lot and on our streets. I can relate this to the organization of children at Emerson. Whether students are walking through the halls, transitioning between specials, or evacuating the building, if a few students get out of place or become distracted from the system, it leads to problems, confusion and possibly a dangerous situation.
Please note that the parking lot has new arrows showing there is only one way in and one way out!
Here are a few guidelines for us all as we work together this year to make our parking lot operation and local street traffic the best it can be.
1) Always practice patience and tolerance and remember you are in the presence of children, your actions and words do not go unnoticed.
2) Do not park in the pick-up and drop off lane, this lane has to be a continuous flow at all times.
3) Make sure to move forward all the way to the front of the lane when dropping off. The portion of the sidewalk with the ramp is not the drop off point! The entire sidewalk needs to be used. (Stopping in the middle of the lane causes open space and creates another line of traffic attempting to move to the open space.)
4) Children should exit the vehicles on the sidewalk side.
5) Make drop-offs as quick as possible. We all love our children, but we have to make it a quick kiss and goodbye!
6) Be respectful and courteous to our local homeowners and neighbors by not parking on lawns or blocking driveways during school pick-up or drop-off times.
7) Keep our parking lot and streets clean and litter free.
Thank you for your cooperation and commitment to our wonderful Emerson community!
Mr. Argiri
PETS!
While everyone loves their pets at home...not everyone may feel the same way at school. Please refrain from bringing pets when dropping off or picking up your son or daughter at the school. We have students that are afraid of animals, and in many instances, while you may know that your dog or cat are harmless with you or at home, when put in a situation with many unfamiliar people, they may act quite differently. Thank you for your assistance with this, as we try to make our school a comfortable place to be for everyone that comes to Emerson!
CROSSING GUARD NEEDED!
The Fraser Police Department and Emerson Elementary are looking for a crossing guard!

DOES YOUR CHILD HAVE MEDICAL NEEDS?
If your child has specific medical needs, please reach out to the main office prior to the start of school. In order to administer medication, consent forms must be completed. Consent forms for prescription medications must include dosage and frequency information signed by a physician. Medication, including inhalers, must be stored in the main office and not in backpacks or pockets. In addition, if your child has a medical plan, it will need to be updated for the 22-23 school year.
FIND YOUR CHILD'S BUS STOP ONLINE
Bus stop information will be available online for the 2022–2023 school year starting August 29. You can access your child’s bus stop information by visiting www.fraser.k12.mi.us. Click on the "Bus Stops" link and enter your address to retrieve your child’s bus stop information.
It is very important to check your child’s bus stop, as routes have been modified for the 2022–2023 school year.
Students will be assigned a route number in lieu of a bus number. The route number is located on the left side of the entry door. To ensure transportation, all students must be at their bus stop 10 minutes prior to the scheduled arrival time.
Please review with your child the bus rules found on the Transportation Department’s website.
When the 2021-2022 school year ended, so did free meals for every student. While the federal government funded a program that allowed all students access to free meals during the COVID-19 pandemic, Congress has declined to continue funding this program.
- Parents should submit a free & reduced application to determine if they qualify for free or reduced priced meals.
- There is a carry over period (30 school days from the first day of school) where students can use their status from the previous school year. This ONLY applies to actual benefits, meaning not all students are free for 30 days to start the year because everyone was free last year.
- Meal prices will remain the same as they were pre-Covid (last time students had to pay).
- Elementary Breakfast $1.35
- Reduced Breakfast $0.30
- Elementary Lunch $2.35
- Reduced Lunch $0.40
- We will be using a monthly Meal Order Form. Parents must complete the Meal Order Form each month in order to receive breakfast or lunch. These should be submitted to the Meal Coordinators prior to the start of the next month.
- Fresh fruit & vegetable bars are back!
- All prepayments should be made ONLINE using the new Family Portal.
Please complete the 2022-2023 online application to find out if your family qualifies for free or reduced-price meals.
