NC Check-Ins Middle of the Year Test
Dear Parents,
Asheville City Schools is participating in the “NC Check-ins” which are short, formative standards-based assessments that will be administered 3 times this year. This is our second “check-in” for the year. 5th grade will take the math and reading assessment, and 4th grade will take the math assessment only. These assessments will inform teachers about where each child is in relation to the North Carolina Standard Course of Study. Teachers can use the information to adjust instruction and support for students as they advance through the year.
Fifth graders have four End of the Year Assessments. In order to help prepare for the stress of this, we will give the students the low stake opportunity to experience EOG like test multiple times throughout the year. The NC check-ins are one of those opportunities.
Please plan to have your child to school on time for their assigned testing dates this fall:
5th Grade Math - Tuesday, February 6 (8:00 a.m.)
5th Grade Reading - Thursday, February 8 (8:00 a.m.)
Please plan to have your child present and on time for these testing days.
Ms. Nichols

Updated Schedule As of January 23rd
Early Release or “No After school Activities” or No School = No Rehearsal
2 Hour Delay= YES Rehearsal!
If we miss school due to weather cancellations- we will stick to the schedule as is (Example- if it Snows on Tuesday- that rehearsal is gone and we move onto Wednesdayś scheduled rehearsal. I will schedule a makeup with that Tuesday Group)
If we continue to miss school due to weather- I may add rehearsals on Monday/Fridays with those who can make it- closer to the production as needed (Let´s hope not!) Rehearsing on the weekend is not an option.
If you know your child is going to miss a rehearsal- please let me know as soon as you can. It helps to plan rehearsals around who is going to be there. You can call, email, or send a note in with your child.
Attached is the rehearsal schedule.
