Sharing Our Gifts
Fund-A-Need
Commitment Sunday is coming up on November 5th and 6th. This is our yearly opportunity to be disciples by committing to sharing all the gifts God has given us. Through this effort we support our many parish ministries - our school being one of them. Being a “community of disciples” we teach our kids to “encounter Christ through stewardship.” If you are a parish family, you should have received a youth commitment card at conferences. As a family, please talk to your children about a commitment they can make to support their unique gifts of time, talent, and treasure. Students should bring their cards to Mass on Nov 5-6. Let us know if you need additional commitment cards.
We are also so blessed to share our Family Night results. You all helped us raise over $33,000. Of that, there are sufficient funds to build a long jump pit for our track athletes and to make a dent in our security camera funding. As we have news on the cameras we’ll let you know.
Thank you for sharing so much with us.

Support Your Child's Classroom
Each year, PTSA funds your children's field trips, and other activities that parents don't have to pay for. After two long years of putting those events on hold, we're ready to send our kids on trips again. Those trips are funded from sweatshirt and spirit wear sales, but mostly from Scrip sales.
We sell scrip gift cards at face value, and receive a rebate from the Scrip organization. It's a win-win for all, but as you can imagine, it's some work to organize. We currently have one wonderful volunteer, but she needs help. It can take as much as one afternoon a week during the holidays, but often less.
If you have it in your schedule to give time to this much needed effort, please let me know (at krafferty@stmikesolympia.org) or our PTSA Chairs, Kim DeBord and Mary Sherman. If you have any questions or just want a bit more information, please email or call me, Kim or Mary. Thank you greatly in advance.

What Is A Birthday Book?
Birthday books are added to the collection at St. Michael School library in honor of someone's birthday. Any student can select a book from the collection of new books waiting to be added to our library. The book will be presented at Monday Morning Opening and the birthday boy or girl will be the first person to check out the book!
If you would like to celebrate your student's birthday by donating a birthday book, please complete the form. A $5.00 donation is requested to help defray the cost of the book. Please check if you want your FACTS account charged or you can send in cash or check (payable to St. Michael School and marked "birthday book" on the memo line). If the cost is prohibitive, please contact Mrs. Quebedeaux (school librarian) squebedeaux@stmikesolympia.org, as we do not want any child to be excluded who wishes to participate.
A special Birthday Club bookplate will be printed and placed inside the book cover with your child's name and year the book was donated.

SCRIP - Support Our School While You Shop
What is SCRIP?
SCRIP is a program where you buy a gift card at face value and we earn a percentage back for our school. Use SCRIP gift cards for things you already buy like food, clothes, entertainment, and gasoline. SCRIP sales go to PTSA which provides funds to support teachers and programs.
How Do I Participate?
- Purchase SCRIP gift cards in the school office. We can also place special orders if we do not have the physical cards you want on hand.
- Set up an online account at RaiseRight.com. Order eGift cards, received instantly, or reload an already purchased physical gift card from the office.

St. Michael Parish School Covid-19 Policy
If a student or staff member is ill or COVID-19 positive:
Students and staff who have symptoms of COVID-19 are required to stay home and should get tested. Any student or staff member who tests positive for COVID-19 is required to isolate at home. Individuals may return to school on Day 6 if they test negative on that day (Day 0 is the first day of symptoms or, if without symptoms, the day of the positive viral test). Those individuals need to wear a well-fitting mask for an additional 5 days (day 6 through day 10) if they return to school after the end of their 5-day isolation period. If an individual is unable to wear a well-fitting mask, they need to continue to isolate for a full 10 days. To further protect other school children and staff, individuals who test positive using antigen or at-home tests towards the end of the full 5 days of isolation, and/or on days 6-10, are required to complete the full 10 days of isolation. Testing after day 10 is not recommended.
If a student or staff member is exposed to COVID-19:
DOH no longer requires exposed students and staff to quarantine. To protect the school, students and staff, regardless of vaccination status, who are potentially exposed to COVID-19 should:
• Monitor for symptoms, AND
• Test as soon as possible after exposure and then repeat testing every 24-48 hours through at least the first 5 days after exposure AND
• Wear a well-fitting mask for 10 days after exposure.
Covid-19 positive cases and exposure cases need to be reported to the St. Michael Parish School Health Office (rfeldmann@stmikesolympia.org). Covid-19 testing is available through the Health Office if home testing is not available.
