Greetings CES Families,
A big thanks to our many veterans this weekend as we celebrate Veterans Day on November 11. Ms. Crowther did an outstanding job giving students a lesson on Veterans Day this past Monday. We will see everyone back on Tuesday, November 12.
Reading each night? 20 minutes/night. Send me your pictures and your favorite books and we'll put them in an upcoming newsletter!
Chester Elementary PTA. We appreciate the many avenues our small but mighty PTA leaders support our students. They can always use help. Please click on the link below to learn more about the many benefits of PTA, and consider joining by visiting the office to pick up a form. Cost is only $6.
Taco Dinner November 19! Please join us for a festive evening and an enjoyable dinner, and support our wonderful PTA friends. See a 4th grader, 6th grader or the office for tickets.
Challenging behaviors. We recognize that some students require a little more direction and support at school, and we strive to make sure other students are not impacted by students who may misbehave at times. Below are some bullets regarding our actions.
- We follow our Uniform Behavioral Standards policy and utilize additional school district resources when addressing negative student behaviors. Our response to negative behaviors may include counseling, restorative practices, detentions, suspensions, alternative recess and even shortened days.
- When disruptions occur, we work with the students and parents/guardians to address the concerns and sometimes encourage the parent to consider additional counseling resources offered through Plumas County.
- We will work with students to address negative behaviors and provide them with strategies to prevent future incidents.
- We sometimes will involve our Plumas Sheriff's Office to assist with more aggressive or threatening behaviors.
- We sometimes have to involve other agencies to support the child and the parents (ex Child Protective Services).
- Our district leaders meet regularly with multiple agencies to address students' needs and challenges within our communities.
- We (staff and volunteers) must abide by all local, state and federal laws including student confidentiality and students' right to a public education.
- Our staff continue to receive training on supporting students with additional challenges.
- Feel free to contact me if you would like to discuss this topic in more detail. Thanks for your support and understanding.
Plumas Rural Services offers parenting support classes. Our children don't come with owner's manuals and there's no shame in learning how to become a better parent for the benefit of your child. For more information please visit their site: https://www.plumasruralservices.org/parenting/index.html Thanks for considering.
In closing, we appreciate your ongoing support and teaming with us to make 2019-2020 an exceptional elementary experience for our students. Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns. Thanks!
