"Amen, I say to you, I shall not drink again the fruit of the vine until the day when I drink it new in the kingdom of God."

This weekend the church acknowledges the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ – Corpus Christi. What does this mean?

It is basically a celebration of the fact that the body and blood of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, is present in the bread and wine during the Eucharist – a re-enactment of the Last Supper, the final meal that Jesus Christ shared with his disciples.

The same kind of celebration is made on Maundy (Holy) Thursday during Easter week, which is seen as a solemn, sombre time for the church; Corpus Christi, in contrast, allows the church to emphasize the joy of the institution of the Eucharist.

Welcome Baby Rezac!

Congratulations to Ms. Rezac and her husband Dmitiri on the birth of their beautiful baby boy in late May. We are so excited for their little family and know that they will be busy showering that boy with so much love. Staff and students look forward to a time in the future when it is safe to meet him in person :)

Featured Novel in our St Andre Bessette Learning Commons

This week's novel feature is Fatty Legs; a story of courage and resilience. This is the memoir of Margaret Pokiak-Fenton, a Canadian author who passed away in late April 2021 at the age of 84 years. In this novel Margaret tells the story of her experiences as a young Inuit girl in residential school. Check out this and other titles by Indigenous writers from the SAB library.

June is National Indigenous History Month. Each week we will have a theme guiding our school learning. We will also have a special guest - Lance Cardinal - painting a mural for us from June 14 - 25! You can gain some insight into Lance's work here:

In addition, those of you who live close by our SAB building will recognize that our flag has been at half mast since May 31. We are keeping our Canadian flag lowered until June 8 as EICS acknowledges the 215 children from the Kamloops residential school grave site discovery. The flag is lowered a total of 215 hours. Students and staff are encouraged to wear an orange shirt on June 8. We will be pausing from 2:00-2:15PM for a message from EICS and to take a moment of silence in honour of the children.

Mr. Reader, Peer Mentoring, Phys. Ed. and Personal Fitness

Mr. Reader is a proud Saskatchewanian. :)

He is a huge fantasy and science fiction book, movie, TV, and board game nerd. He loves talking about it with students. He has been involved in music the majority of his life; concert, marching, jazz, and community band programs in Regina, SK which allowed him to travel to the US in the summer for 3 weeks (from grade 8-12) to compete with US high school programs. You can reach him at

Here are some fun facts shared by Mr. Reader:

  • My older brothers are 20 (66) and 22 (68) years older than me.
  • I was recruited by NCAA Div. 1 schools for football (Michigan State being my favourite) but I was too scared to live that far way from my parents so I chose the University of Saskatchewan….and won a National Championship!!!
  • I’ve never seen the Movies E.T. or Forest Gump.

Ms. Yuzdepski, Cosmetology & Foods 9

Ms. Yuzdepski also hails from Saskatchewan. She is the oldest of four kids and was born in Humboldt but grew up in Cudworth. As such, she is a diehard Saskatchewan Roughrider fan and further she cheers for the Boston Bruins. Bless her.

She is new to our school this year as she joined us in late fall to take on the Foods 9 and Cosmetology program when Mrs. Rezac went on leave. She is the proud fur mama to the two dogs pictured above, Walter and Doris. When COVID disappears she would like to travel to Disneyland.

You can reach Ms Yuzdepski at
