Weekly Update
April 13-17
Extended School Closure
We will provide distance learning via lesson plans from your student's teachers pages on the EngageRedmond website through the end of the school year. In addition to learning opportunities teachers will be providing students feedback on their work through graded assignments and assessments. We want to support students as we finish this school year the best we can through distance learning. We appreciate your patience as we navigate this new digital learning environment.
Meals will continue to be served through Redmond High School parking lot during the school closure.
The last day of school will remain Thursday June 11th.
A message about change from our counselors
Trimester 3 Begins
As we move into this first week our goal is for students and families to become familiar with accessing EngageRedmond and their teacher's learning plans. There will be no graded assignments during this first week of the trimester.
Student Learning Plans on EngageRedmond
You may notice the format of the learning plans will change slightly moving forward from our initial launch of the EngageRedmond website. As the governor has made the choice to extend the school closure and the Oregon Department of Education has given school district's guidance around the aspects required for distance learning we are ramping up to provide you and your student with the lessons and resources to stay on track through the end of the school year.
Our teachers are working diligently and collaboratively on learning new tools to make the weekly learning plans available to families.
Chromebook Pick-Up This Week at Redmond High School
Our IT department has been busy cleaning chromebooks this past week to ready them for pick up. We appreciate all of their hard work to help support distance learning for your students.
Devices will be available to pick up Monday April 13th through Friday April 17th at the Redmond High School parking lot. Middle School device pick up will be from 12:30-2:30pm. You will want to have your student's school ID number upon arrival. This is a six digit number that you can find in ParentVue. If possible, please bring a cell phone that is capable of sending text messages. If you do not have one, that will be fine.
As you arrive please look for signage that will help direct you where to go to pick up your device.
Trimester 3 Grading
The tentative plan for grading trimester 3 is as follows, however we are awaiting updates from the Oregon Department of Education on middle school grading.
As we officially begin trimester 3 this week we wanted to share a note about how classes will be graded for students.
- The default grading system for Trimester 3 will be Pass / No Pass. A student and parent may request a letter grade if they believe that is best for their student.
- Towards the middle of the trimester we will communicate the process for requesting a letter grade.
- If your child is enrolled in a course that may generate high school credit (e.g. Algebra I, Spanish I), we will share specific information regarding grading as we get more guidance from the Oregon Department of Education on grading.
- For students who cannot access learning. A No Grade can be given for a Trimester 3 class.
Please reach out to your students teacher or school counselor for questions about grading.
