WHAT IS COMPRESSION?
WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF COMPRESSION?
Lossy removes some of the data from a file to reduce its size. It also removes data that is least likely to be noticed by human senses. Furthermore, once compressed, the file cannot be restored to its original quality.
Sometimes its important not to lose any data in a file. For example, if something was removed from a computer, it would not run. A text file must contain all the words otherwise it may not make sense. It is possible to compress a file without loosing any data. This involves storing data about the file so hat it can be recreated later
Why are some files compressed/ converted to different file types before being uploading to the web?
- It loads files faster
- It allows you to save more things
