Flowery Flyer

Week of 12/7/15

Weekly Recap

Every month I attend an Administrative Council Meeting with all District administrators. This year we made a change to the meeting structure in order to make them more focused on student learning and school site visits. The meeting in the month of December will be held at Flowery on Friday, December 11th. A portion of the meeting will be spent touring classrooms and observing student learning and teaching in action. The plan is to conduct classroom visits at 9:00-10:00 a.m. I know we have a number of teachers out on this date attending the CMC conference. While I would have loved to have everyone present, I am confident that our Admin team will benefit tremendously from visiting the 11 classrooms without subs on this day. The focus of the classroom visits will be to identify common core instructional strategies in action and student engagement strategies. I will be sharing our school-wide focus on Math Standard Practice 3 as well as our progress with COI #1. I am excited to highlight our school and host all District administrators on Friday. I am proud of our staff and the work we do to support student learning!

Flowery is a Spanish/English dual immersion school, providing all students with the opportunity to become bilingual, biliterate and bicultural. Begun in 1998 with one kindergarten class and a $1,000,000 federal grant, dual immersion now spans grades K-5 at Flowery and grades 6-8 at Adele Harrison Middle School. We are proud to offer this high quality program of choice for Sonoma County families, and are committed to educating all children for success in a global society.
