Welcome back to a new year of learning at Montgomery Elementary School! Please read this newsletter from top to bottom! You should have received an email with your child’s homeroom teacher today. If you did not, please email me and I can help you get this information. We look forward to seeing everyone at Open House between 5 - 6 pm on August 24th. Please consider carpooling, walking or coming towards the end due to parking. The playground will be used as a parking lot but as you know, parking is always a consideration at Montgomery Elementary School.
I can’t wait to see everyone!
Amy

As in the past, we need ALL parents or guardians to log into Final Forms and make any necessary updates. Please remember to sign your forms even if no changes are being made.
Please do this as soon as possible as this will prevent potential issues or problems that can
be addressed before our return to school in September.

*NEW* ARRIVAL AND DISMISSAL PROCEDURES
Car tags are NOT needed this school year. Please see below for the changes in the pick up procedure!
Parent Drop-Off (Mornings)
Parents can drop their children off in the drive around the North side of our building each morning between 9:00 am and 9:10 a.m. The car drop-off entrance is around the back of the school. When entering the car lane, please follow the designated route to proceed to the student drop-off area.
A MT staff member must be present before students can exit the vehicle. Do not allow your child to exit the vehicle until a staff member has indicated that it is okay to do so. Please have your child ready to exit the car (backpack ready, goodbyes said, etc.) when you reach the drop-off location so that students may exit the car quickly.
Students will proceed directly to their classroom upon exiting the vehicle.
Please note that the tardy bell rings at 9:10 a.m.
At 9:10 a.m. the staff member on duty will close the door at the morning drop-off area. Students may not be dropped off in the morning drop-off area after 9:10 a.m.
If your student arrives after 9:10 a.m., you must park in the front parking lot and walk your child into the front office and sign them in.
Staff will be on duty throughout the building to assist students with getting to their classrooms each morning.
Parent Pick-Up (Afternoons)
Our afternoon procedures require you to come into the building! You must have your ID. .
When arriving in the afternoons for parent pick-up, please park your car in a parking space (not the bus lanes) and enter the vestibule no earlier than 3:50.
Have your ID out and ready to show the staff member at the checkout table.
If you have a family member or neighbor who will pick up your child(ren), please be sure to send a communication form and make sure they have their ID. The ID must match the name on the communication form.
Give your name and ID to the staff member at the table and they will call your child from the center hallway.
Welcome back Montgomery Families!
I hope you are all as excited to get back to school (and get the kids out of the house) as I am!! For those of you that don't yet know me, my name is Amanda Middleton and I am the new PTO President for Montgomery Elementary. I have a seventh grader at the Jr. High as well as a fourth and first grader at Montgomery this year. I look forward to seeing all of you at our many school and community events.
Our first general meeting will be on Thursday, September 14 @ 6:00pm. This is a change from previous years as we try out an evening format, hoping to bring more families to our meetings. There will be dinner and childcare provided for those who need it. Details coming soon! At this first meeting, we will be presenting the annual budget for approval, discussing fundraising, and outlining our programs for the year.
We still need volunteers for a few positions and as always, to help make our events a success. Please contact me if you are interested in chairing a committee and keep an eye on the Smore in the next few weeks for a link to volunteer.
All information is also available on the PTO website and via our facebook page. If you have any questions, you're always welcome to send an email to me - MTPTO@sycamoreschools.org
Best,
Amanda Middleton
Montgomery PTO President
